Minute Commentary
90' SUMMARY
A thoroughly entertaining evening ends with the right result. Chelsea started both halves on top but it was Juventus who created the best chances of the evening, capitalising on some generous defending from the home side. Some Oscar magic forged a surprising two-goal lead for the Blues but the crucial period was the closing stages of the first half, when they couldn't hold that advantage and allowed Juve back into the match via Vidal's strike. Mata still had a chance to put the game to bed but he found the side netting rather than the back of the net, and soon errors from Terry and Mikel allowed Quagliarella to hit a deserved late equaliser for the Old Lady. Full time at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea 2 Juventus 2.

Juve are inches away from a famous late winner. Fabio Quagliarella turns a scoops a left-footed 18-yard shot off the top of the bar. A terrific effort.

Two schoolboy errors from Chelsea players and suddenly it's all square at Stamford Bridge. Mikel plays a hospital ball outside his own box, gifting Juve possession, and seconds later a slipped pass sees John Terry foolishly try to play offside, allowing FABIO QUAGLIARELLA to beak into the box and slot past Cech.
79' SIDE NETTING
Everything but the finish for Chelsea here. Hazard and Mata link up beautifully down the left, scything through several Juve players with a series of one-twos. The final pass is to the Spaniard, who lashes into the side netting from 15 yards. Half the ground thought it was in, and it should have been.

Another change made by Massimo Carrera. He hands Mauricio Isla his Juve debut, in place of Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Marchisio's shot from the edge of the box is blocked as Chelsea continue to withstand a good spell of Juve pressure. The superb Vidal then blots his copybook by picking up a booking for a foul on Oscar.

Juventus are warming up nicely here. Giovinco sends a beauty of a left-wing cross towards the far stick where Ashley Cole coolly and crucially clears from under his own cross-bar.

Ramires goes into the book for a studs-up tackle just outside Chelsea's box. Giovinco skies the free kick.

Eden Hazard thinks he should have a penalty here, but he's not right. The Frenchman is always looking for it, as he and Andrea Barzagli jostle in the penalty area. Hazard goes down far too easily and although there is the slightest of contacts, it's not enough for a penalty. Good refereeing from Pedro Proenca.
55' INTENT
Good start to the half from Chelsea, this. They've come out showing positive intent as they look to put the game beyond the Italians. The way Juventus attacked with such purpose at times before the break, the Blues will most likely need a third goal.

Chelsea are peppering the Juventus box. Lampard's powerful free kick is beaten away by Buffon.
51' IVANOVIC SHOT
Branislav Ivanovic, who has already scored twice this season, ambles forward and drives a decent 25-yard effort towards the bottom corner. Buffon is forced to push wide.

Elsewhere in group E Shakhtar Donetsk are beating FC Nordsjaelland 1-0 in Ukraine. Mkhitaryan with the goal.

We're back underway at Stamford Bridge. Perhaps surprisingly the hobbling Vidal is still on the pitch for Juve.
45' HALF TIME
Fascinating half at Stamford Bridge. It's a contrast in styles and Chelsea, more direct in their approach, are coming out on top so far. That's mostly thanks to the Brazilian brilliance of Oscar, whose second goal was a thing of beauty. Juventus look dangerous whenever they push forward, so more goals look likely in the second half.
45' RAMIRES SHOT
Torres tees up Ramires whose low shot is saved and then Oscar can't quite get hold of the rebound. If he'd got there quicker the Brazilian could have completed a 13-minute hat-trick.
42' FAIR SCORELINE
The scoreline reflects more accurately the pattern of play here at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea weren't good value for that 2-0 lead - Juventus arguably should be winning themselves after creating two golden chances before Oscar struck.
39' CHELSEA 2-1 JUVENTUS
Well they've failed miserably - Juventus have pulled one back. This game has come to life. The Blues give too much room to ARTURO VIDAL who picks his spot from 18 yards, drilling low into the corner. The injured midfielder hobbles away as he celebrates, which is quite a sight.
37' CRUCIAL
Crucial period now for Chelsea. Juventus are controlling possession again and this eight-minute spell before half time is very important indeed.
36' VIDAL SHOT
Vidal, who was off the field receiving treatment when Chelsea scored their first goal, hits a drive high and wide. Juventus will be shell-shocked. Vucinic will be squirming.
34' CHELSEA 2-0 JUVENTUS
Oh my goodness me what a goal!! No luck here - OSCAR has just scored an absolute screamer. The 21-year-old Brazilian takes the ball with his back to goal, 20 yards out, flicks inside with his right boot and pirouettes before curling into the top corner, leaving Buffon flailing. That really is world class.
32' CHELSEA 1-0 JUVENTUS
Juve are sure rueing that Vucinic miss now. A simple throw from the left sees Chelsea work the ball inside towards OSCAR, whose 25-yarder takes a big deflection off Bonucci and loops past Buffon into the bottom corner. It's his first goal for the Blues.
30' VUCINIC CHANCE
Chelsea are carved open with breathtaking ease for the second time this evening. Juve are four-on-four and Vidal, 25 yards out and dead centre, looks right and feeds Vucinic, who slices wide from just inside the box. That was another excellent chance. Chelsea look very vulnerable at the back.
28' PRESSING
No one's really taken charge of this game yet. Chelsea are doing most of the pressing but Buffon has had very little to do. Ramires skies a 20-yarder.
27' WASTE
Di Matteo has got to ask someone else to take these corners. Yet again Lampard wildly overhits a corner - deliberately I might add - towards Luiz at the back stick, but Juve get a head on it. With Terry and Ivanovic in the six-yard box that's such a waste.
24' RAMIRES CHANCE
Hazard sends it low into the box from the left - the ball breaks for Ramires who takes one touch from eight yards out, but suddenly three Juve defenders surround him and the chance is gone. Brilliant defending. That needed a first-time whack from Ramires.
21' MARCHISIO CHANCE
What a chance for Juve. A simple high ball over the top releases Marchisio - with David Luiz caught napping - but the defensive-minded midfielder bundles the ball into the box, allowing Cech to rush out to block. A bit of composure and that's 1-0 to the Old Lady.
19' TORRES HEADER
A beautifully-flighted Hazard cross from the left reaches Torres, whose header from six-yard cannons off two players before rolling slowly across goal. It's another Chelsea corner, and another wasted delivery from Lampard.
16' VIDAL SHOT
Vidal (no relation to Sassoon, I'm told), sends a deflected shot past Cech's right-hand post. earning Juve a flag kick of their own. Again it comes to nothing - poor corners from both sides so far tonight.
15' LIVELY
It's scrappy and congested in midfield, with neither side particularly exerting their authority. Vucinic is looking lively for Juve.
14' CORNER
A floated Ramires cross wins Chelsea's third corner of the evening, with Barzagli nodding behind ahead of Torres. Lampard swings it far too deep though and Juve clear their lines.
11' LAMPARD SHOT
Lampard works the ball onto his left boot, 25 yards out, but rather scuffs his shot and it's a simple save for Buffon.
10' ATMOSPHERE
Great atmosphere being generated by the small pocket of Juventus fans. The Italians always travel in good numbers and high spirits. On the pitch their side have started to settle, with Giovinco making some promising runs up top.
7' UNSETTLED
Juventus may be imperious in Serie A but Chelsea have unsettled them in the early stages. Pirlo isn't involved yet. Big night for Mikel trying to keep him quiet.
3' CORNER
Good early pressure from the Blues who win a corner, although Lampard's outswinger is tame. Stamford Bridge is packed to the rafters.

Kwadwo Asamoah and Mirko Vucinic both return to the side after missing the win over Genoa at the weekend, while Brazilian centre half Lucio is on the bench as he recovers from an ankle injury. Chelsea - European champions. Still doesn't sound real does it? Four months after that famous night in Munich, when Roberto Di Matteo's fighters defied the odds for the umpteenth time and beat favourites Bayern to world football's most coveted club prize, the Blues begin the defence of their title. They couldn't have been given a much tougher start to their campaign, with Italian champions Juventus visiting Stamford Bridge. Shakhtar Donetsk and Danish minnows FC Nordsjaelland are also in Group E, so you'd expect these two to progress. But as Chelsea proved last season, nothing in football is a foregone conclusion.
