90' HEARTACHE FOR CHELSEA, WHO RUN OUT CONVINCING WINNERS
On a night in which other results mattered most, the European champions did themselves proud with a mesmerising performance at Stamford Bridge. They become the first Champions League winners to go out in the group stage the following year, but they did everything they could - a first win for Benitez and a brace for Torres, who will undoubtedly take confidence from this superb performance.

The atmosphere is very unusual, as the referee draws this one-sided affair to a close. A thumping win for Chelsea, but an early exit, as Juventus beat Shakhtar in Ukraine.

Fernando Torres almost completes his rout, but his right-footer is denied by Jesper Hansen.
90' YELLOW CARD
David Luiz is needlessly cautioned, which means he misses the next European fixture. Unfortunately, it looks like he will serve it in the Europa League, as the score remains 1-0 to Juventus in Ukraine.
89' COULD IT BE SEVEN?
Victor Moses tries to add his name to the scoresheet, first with a backheel, and then with a header, both of which are thwarted by Jesper Hansen.
86' LUIZ FREE KICK
Chelsea win a central free kick right on the edge of the area, and David Luiz takes it. He reverts from his usual long run up blasting, to try and squeeze it in under the apex. He doesn't manage to get enough dip on the ball and it sails comfortably over.
82' GOOD SAVES
It would seem crazy to praise a goalkeeper who has been beaten six times in a single match, but credit has to be given to Jesper Hansen, who has prevented double figures this evening. A handful of shots from Fernando Torres, Gary Cahill and Oscar are saved.
79' TORRES GOES DOWN
After a quick exchange on the edge of the area, Fernando Torres is through on goal but the ball is just out of reach. He is felled and appeals for a penalty, but the referee is right to wave play on. He went down far too easily and couldn't have complained if he received a yellow card for his thespianism.

I wonder if the Chelsea players are aware of the scoreline in Ukraine - they look like a team possessed as they - motivated by schadenfreude - attempt to take some satisfaction by utterly destroying the helpless Nordsjaelland.

It's six for Chelsea and the visitors look like they've given up as they gift Chelsea another. Juan Mata takes the ball off a defender and feeds in Oscar, who passes it past a motionless goalkeeper.

Nordsjaelland are merely chasing shadows and it's now a question of how high Chelsea can get the scoreline. In fact, the Blues look more motivated than ever - frantic even - as they try to inflict the most possible damage. Ryan Bertrand even performs some trickery with nobody near him, although it doesn't look too clever when your side is heading out of the competition as things stand.

A real thumping here would be little consolation if they failed to progress, but Chelsea continue to add to the scoreline. This time it's Mata, who hits a left-footer from inside the area, following a cross from Eden Hazard.

All credit has to go to the architect here - Eden Hazard outpaces the Nordsjaelland right-back and pulls it back for Fernando Torres, who scores his second of the night. The celebrations are short-lived, however, as news of the goal in Ukraine circulates around Stamford Bridge.

A free kick from the right-hand side is delivered by Juan Mata but it's all about the header from Gary Cahill. It seems improbable that he could score as the delivery is more towards the back of the area, but somehow the English defender manages to loop the ball right over the keeper and into the back of the net - wonderful goal!

That (very) early second-half goal has given Nordsjaelland a spring in their step. They've got a goal to remember their trip to London by, but wouldn't an inconceivable upset be a great accolade to remember their first Champions League campaign by?

Well, you weren't expecting that were you? Neither were Chelsea. Nordsjaelland catch the home side cold as Kasper Lorentzen lofts the ball over the Chelsea defence and Joshua John lifts the ball over an onrushing Petr Cech.

45' FIRST HALF SUMMARY
Chelsea go into the break with a more than comfortable two-goal lead. The main talking point, of course, is the 10 minute fiasco of handballs, in which three penalties were awarded; two for Chelsea and one for Nordsjaelland. Nicolai Stokholm missed for the visitors, Hazard missed for Chelsea, and then David Luiz converted his. From there it was only going to go one way, and Fernando Torres all but made sure of that on the stroke of half time. Chelsea have given themselves a chance, but with Shakhtar and Juventus goalless at the interval, nothing is guaranteed, that's for sure.

The referee calls time on a completely one-sided first half.

It's a well deserved goal for Torres, who has worked hard all evening. Victor Moses played the through ball, and Torres was a little fortunate to have his initial shot rebound straight back at him. From there it was all too simple. Surely Chelsea have this wrapped up now, but they'll have to pray for other results to go their way.

Nordsjaelland try to peg Chelsea back immediately, but Mario Ticinovic's shot is easily saved by Petr Cech. Unfortunately, you have to say that after the penalty miss, Chelsea won't be giving the visitors many more opportunities to taint their Champions League hopes. Except another penalty, perhaps?

Rafael Benitez breathes a sigh of relief as his team finally manage to take the lead. David Luiz strikes it well and even Jesper Hansen couldn't save that one.

Believe it or not, it's another penalty! Chelsea with another chance to take the lead, but this one is a little more dubious. The penalty is given for handball but there's not much the defender could do about that. Eden Hazard won't get another chance, though, David Luiz steps up this time...

Another penalty is saved! This time the penalty-taker is more at fault, as Hazard tries to roll it in calmly. Jesper Hansen, who has made numerous saves already, denies the Belgian with ease.

A stonewall penalty at the other end, and it's pretty much a replica of the one awarded minutes ago. Eden Hazard steps up...

Nicolai Stokholm's chance of glory is thwarted by Petr Cech, who guesses correctly and palms the penalty away.

Completely against the run of play, a Nordsjaelland shot is blocked and after a long pause, the ref awards the penalty!

Nordsjaelland nervously venture into uncharted territory - Chelsea's half - and Enoch Adu and Kasper Lorentzen get shots away, neither of which really trouble Petr Cech.
24' LONG BALL FROM LUIZ
Chelsea draw the Nordjaelland players away from their penalty area with some slow build up play before David Luiz seeks out Fernando Torres with a long ball. A goal for El Nino would surely arouse confidence, especially after his reunion with Benitez, however Michael Parkhurst does enough to subdue Torres.
20' PROMISING MOVE
Chelsea have completely dominated so far, but Benitez will be especially pleased with this move, as the attacking players move the ball around seamlessly. Fernando Torres and Juan Mata link up brilliantly but the return pass from Mata is a little too far away from the Spaniard, who can only manage a feeble prod towards goal.
17' STRANGE DECISION
Victor Moses beats his man on the right-hand edge of the Nordjaelland area and is brought down by a desperate lunge. The ref takes a long look but somehow concludes that a free kick isn't necessary. If there wasn't contact - which there was - then surely Moses should be booked for diving. Strange decision from the ref, which grants the visitors a short reprieve.
13' SUBSTITUTION
Mikkel Beckmann has come on for the injured Ivan Runje. The replacement is thrown straight into the deep end as Eden Hazard terrorises him on the edge of the box. After beating Beckmann, Hazard crosses and wins a fruitless corner. It could be a long night for the visiting defence.
9' SUPER KEEPER
Benitez favourite, Victor Moses tests the keeper for the first time, with a volley following Ashley Cole's cross. The keeper makes a save and is subsequently forced into another, as Fernando Torres robs the defender. Jesper Hansen tips Torres' low drive wide of the post and saves his side for a third time in quick succession when David Luiz drives a Juan Mata corner towards goal.
6' INJURY
Ivan Runje goes down for Nordjaelland and it isn't looking good. The visitors have already lost their first-choice centre back and the length of the treatment suggests that Runje won't be continuing.
3' ALL PLAYED IN ONE HALF
Nordsjaelland win the ball back in midfield, but with 10 of their players camped in their own half, it's easy for Chelsea to win it back. Normal service resumes as the home side begin to dominate again.

We're off and Chelsea start brightly, forcing an early corner.

David Luiz is back in defence after serving his domestic suspension. Rafael Benitez opts to pack the midfield with Victor Moses in the starting line-up once again. Oriol Romeu comes in, while Fernando Torres spearheads the attack.

Chelsea will welcome back David Luiz for this important Champions League clash, after the Brazilian missed out against West Ham at the weekend through suspension. They may be short on experience, with the likes of Frank Lampard and John Terry absent through injury, but they make up for it in creativity and flair, with a variety of talent on display; Mata, Oscar and Hazard are all available.
