Zenit St. Petersburg vs. FC Porto
Minute Commentary
90' POINTS SHARED IN RUSSIA
FC Porto and Zenit St Petersburg shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Stadion Petrovski, but it's the Russian side that stay a point clear of their opponents in second spot of UEFA Champions League Group G. Lucho Gonzalez handed the visitors the lead but Hulk levelled soon after and the former Porto striker could have sealed victory from the penalty spot, but Helton denied him. The Portuguese side deservedly took the lead after 23 minutes. Danilo's wonderful delivery from the right was beautifully headed back across goal by Lucho Gonzalez for his 18th Champions League goal in 61 games. However, Zenit hit back just five minutes later and it was a former Porto legend who came back to haunt his former club. A defensive mix-up at the back from full-back Alex Sandro and goalkeeper Helton allowed Hulk to nip in and slot the ball into an empty net. It was the Brazilian's tenth goal in his last 13 appearances for the Russian giants. In the second-half, he had an opportunity to seal victory when Viktor Fayzulin's attempted cross struck Nicolas Otamendi on the arm and referee Tom Harald Hagen from Norway pointed straight to the spot. However, goalkeeper Helton dived to his right to deny Hulk from scoring his second goal of the night. Both sides had chances to win it late on, but in the end they had to settle for a point apiece.
90' FULL-TIME
It's catching practice for Helton from Hulk's free-kick. And that is that! Zenit St Petersburg are held to a 1-1 draw by Porto at the Stadion Petrovski.
90' DANGEROUS POSITION
Nicolas Otamendi brings down Aleksandr Kerzhakov and this is in a dangerous position. About 25 yards from goal, but made for Hulk.
90' ANOTHER BOOKING
Konstantin Zyryanov goes studs first into Eliaquim Mangala's leg and is rightly booked. The game has really opened up as we head into THREE additional minutes at the end of this game.
89' NO PENALTY
Eliaquim Mangala brings down Hulk in the box, but referee Tom Harald Hagen waves away appeals. The Brazilian holds his head in his hands because he feels that was a stone wall penalty.
87' GHILAS COMES ON
Striker Nabil Ghilas replaces Lucho Gonzalez as Porto head coach Paulo Fonseca looks to go for all three points in these final few minutes.
86' SHATOV BOOKED
Oleg Shatov slides in on Alex Sandro and is rightly booked by referee Tom Harald Hagen. Soon after, Cristian Ansaldi cracks his effort into the side netting.
85' WALL DOES ITS JOB
Zenit get a free-kick right on the edge of the area after Hulk is hacked down by Nicolas Otamendi. Aleksandr Kerzhakov smashes it straight at the wall though.
83' ZYRYANOV ON
The experienced Konstantin Zyryanov replaces Axel Witsel as Zenit head coach Luciano Spalletti makes his final change.
81' NO POWER
Alex Sandro takes aim, but is unable to get an purchase on his left-foot shot from just outside the box and goalkeeper Yuri Lodigin holds on.
79' COMING ON STRONG
Zenit St Petersburg are coming on strong in these closing minutes. Axel Witsel turns past his marker, but Danilo slides across to deny him a shot on goal. That was a very strong challenge, but an honest one and timed to perfection.
76' PORTO SUBSTITUTION
Lica, who was signed in the summer from Estoril, replaces Josue.
74' IMPORTANT SAVE
Aleksandr Kerzhakov bends his right-foot curler just over the bar from the edge of the area. Moments later, Hulk sends Kerzhakov away down the right. He squares the ball for Oleg Shatov, who flicks it towards Andrei Arshavin behind him and in space, but Helton spreads himself to make an important stop.
71' FAST PACED
Josue heads over from the resulting corner and at the other end Andrei Arshavin's attempted effort is well blocked. Suddenly, the pace of the game has picked up again.
69' SOLID SAVE
Jackson Martinez catches the ball early from 25 yards, but Yuri Lodigin dives across his goal to palm it behind for a corner.
67' ARSHAVIN ON
Former Arsenal man Andrei Arshavin comes on to replace Roman Shirokov, who hasn't had the best of games tonight.
66' FLASHED OVER
Alex Sandro drifts past Cristian Ansaldi before flashing his left-foot effort over the crossbar. Yuri Lodigin looked to have the shot covered though.
64' HULK CHOPPED DOWN
Striker Hulk is brought crashing down by Alex Sandro as he looked to be heading clean through on goal. However, referee Tom Harald Hagen hands the defender a yellow card because Nicolas Otamendi was in the vicinity.
61' PORTO DETERMINATION
Josue's outswinger is headed towards goal from 18 yards out by Eliaquim Mangala, but Yuri Lodigin hangs on. From his throw-out Mangala is chasing back, winning the ball back off Hulk. That's the kind of determination the Portuguese side are showing tonight.
58' YELLOW CARD
Fernando pushes Oleg Shatov in the back and the Porto man collects the first booking of the match from referee Tom Harald Hagen.
56' TESTING SHOT
Silvestre Varela tests Yuri Lodigin from range, but the goalkeeper tips the ball over the bar for a corner. The inswinger to the near post is headed out.
53' HELTON SAVES
Porto goalkeeper Helton dives to his right to deny Hulk from bagging his second goal of the night against his former club. In all honesty, the spot-kick was weak and Helton guessed right.
52' PENALTY TO ZENIT
Viktor Fayzulin's attempted cross strikes Nicolas Otamendi on the arm and referee Tom Harald Hagen from Norway is left with no choice but to point straight to the spot.
51' SIDE NETTING
Hulk holds a couple of players off before finding Oleg Shatov, but the 23-year-old Russian star can only fire his effort into the side netting.
49' UNBEATABLE ZENIT
Zenit have won five of their last seven home outings and have lost just one of the past 24 - 3-2 to AC Milan last term. It's a difficult task for Porto, who are bound to throw the kitchen sink at their opponents if the scoreline remains like this deep in the second-half.
46' HERE WE GO AGAIN
Porto have won four of their five European away games in Russia but they will be desperate to claim all three points tonight, especially with Atletico Madrid taking on rock-bottom Austria Vienna later tonight. A point is probably not what either side want tonight, so expect an action-packed second-half. There have been no changes at the break.
45' ALL-SQUARE IN RUSSIA
FC Porto controlled 63 per cent of possession in the first-half of their UEFA Champions League Group G encounter with Zenit St Petersburg, but it's 1-1 at the Stadion Petrovski in Russia. They deservedly took the lead after 23 minutes. The Brazilian has now scored 10 goals in his last 13 appearances for the Russian giants.
45' HALF-TIME
Zenit St Petersburg are being held to a 1-1 draw at the break by FC Porto at the Stadion Petrovski.
45' ADDED TIME
Yuri Lodigin hangs on to the ball from a dangerous inswinging free-kick which looked to be headed towards goal by Jackson Martinez. We're into ONE additional minute of stoppage time.
44' WIDE BY MARTINEZ
Jackson Martinez is leaning backwards and can only direct his header wide of the far post. Oleg Shatov hands the ball straight back to Porto and Danilo is brought crashing to the floor for a free-kick.
41' ANGRY HULK
Hulk remonstrates with the linesman after feeling he was nudged off the ball on the far side of the field. Play continues and it's the men in all-white who are keeping close possession.
38' ZENIT ON THE COUNTER
Of Zenit's three goals this season, Hulk has scored two and assisted the other. At the moment, Porto are keeping lots of possession and controlling the game. The hosts are happy counter-attacking. Viktor Fayzulin's left-foot piledriver is straight at Helton.
35' LIFTED OVER
Lucho Gonzalez lifts his shot from 25 yards over the bar. One thing which is sure to worry Porto is the introduction of Aleksandr Kerzhakov for the hosts because he was the man who scored the winner in Portugal a fortnight ago.
32' END TO END
That equaliser from Hulk has livened up the Stadion Petrovski which is jumping right now. The Portuguese side have continued where they left off before the Zenit goal and are back on the attack.
28' HULK LEVELS UP
A defensive mix-up at the back from Alex Sandro allows former Porto striker Hulk to nip in and take the ball around Helton before slotting it into an empty net. The Brazilian doesn't celebrate the goal in front of his former team-mates.
28' GOOOAAALLL!!!
HULK
26' ZENIT CHANGE
Aleksandr Kerzhakov replaces Danny, who was suffering from a calf injury.
23' PERFECT HEADER
Danilo delivers a wonderful cross from the right, which is headed back across goal by Lucho Gonzalez and the ball nestles in the back of the net. That's his 18th goal in Champions League football in 61 games! There was nothing goalkeeper Yuri Lodigin could have done about that! They deserve the lead at the Stadion Petrovski.
23' GOOOAAALLL!!!
LUCHO GONZALEZ
23' VARELA OFF TARGET
Danilo comes forward and takes on a couple of defenders. He then lays the ball sideways for Silvestre Varela, but he smashes his shot over the bar. He was always leaning back and unable to direct the ball on target.
21' POOR CLEARANCE
There is a concern on the look on Luciano Spalletti's face at the moment. Josue is unable to make the most of Yuri Lodigin's poor clearance. Hulk drifts in but is unable to get any power behind his right-footed attempt.
19' DANGEROUS DANILO
Cristian Ansaldi is going back to his own goal but gets clipped from Silvestre Varela and earns the free-kick. Danilo then finds acres of space down the right and his shot deflects off Nicolas Lombaerts and away for a corner. He had to go for goal because he had nobody to pick out in the middle.
16' ANYWHERE WILL DO
Silvestre Varela's cross looks for Jackson Martinez, but he leaves it to Josue and Zenit nip in to hack the ball downfield. Josue then wins his side a free-kick, but his inswinger is headed away. The Russian outfit are sitting back and allowing the Portuguese to dominate proceedings.
13' FIRED OVER
Hulk finds some space down the left and he picks out Axel Witsel on the edge of the area, but the Belgian slams his right-foot drive high, wide and handsome. Both sides are attacking with intent and the pace of the game has been electrifying.
11' LODIGIN WOBBLE
Danilo steps in from the right-back position and tests Yuri Lodigin from range. The goalkeeper only just manages to hold on to the ball at the second attempt. Some slippery fingers from the Russian international.
9' PORTO POSSESSION
Zenit head coach Luciano Spalletti is wrapped up in a hat, scarf and a big puffer jacket watching from the touchline. On the field, his team are struggling. Josue turns past his man before attempting a very ambitious effort from 30 yards, but the ball is deflected wide for a Porto corner.
6' GOOD ATTITUDE
Porto are holding a high line and are throwing men forward in these opening couple of minutes at an atmospheric Stadion Petrovski in northern Russia. Hulk gets his first touch of the ball, but fails to find his strike partner Danny.
3' DIFFERENT SYSTEMS
Zenit St Petersburg have set up in a 4-3-2-1 system and head coach Luciano Spalletti will want his side to push their Portuguese opponents on the back foot from the start. Meanwhile, Paulo Fonseca has set his side up with a 4-3-3 formation with Jackson Martinez leading a three-pronged attack alongside Josue and Silvestre Varela.
1' WE'RE UNDERWAY
Here we go then! Zenit St Petersburg are in their all-blue home kit while the visitors are in their all-white number tonight. The atmosphere inside the Stadion Petrovski is pretty noisy for this important clash while the pitch is looking lush and green.
0' ZENIT TEAM NEWS
Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel is in the Zenit St Petersburg line up after having an additional suspension for his red card in an earlier group game against FK Austria scrubbed by a UEFA appeal committee. Goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev (calf) fails to make the squad. Scorer of the winning goal from the match at the Estadio do Dragao a fortnight ago, Aleksandr Kerzhakov is amongst the substitutes. The Russian outfit will be relying on Danny and former FC Porto striker Hulk to fire them to victory at a bitterly cold Stadion Petrovski.
0' FC PORTO TEAM NEWS
Porto are without Hector Herrera (suspended) and Juan Quintero (thigh). Youngsters Mikel Agu and Diego Reyes are on the bench, despite neither having yet made their league debut. Jackson Martinez and Silvestre Varela are the main attacking threat for the Portuguese giants.

Lodigin, Ansaldi, Hubocan, Lombaerts, Criscito, Shirokov, Witsel, Faitzulin, Shatov, Danny, Hulk. SUBSTITUTES: Baburin, Kerzhakov, Luis Neto, Zyryanov, Aniukov, Arshavin, Tymoschuk.
0' FC PORTO TEAM

0' MATCH PREVIEW
Zenit St Petersburg will be aiming to move four points clear over UEFA Champions League Group G opponents FC Porto in order to strengthen their bid for a spot in the knockout stages of the competition. Aleksandr Kerzhakov's winning goal in Portugal on matchday three took him past Oleh Blokhin as the all-time top scorer in UEFA club competition from the former Soviet republics - it was his 27th in Europe. Luciano Spalletti's side are unbeaten in 10 games at home this season with seven of them ending in victories. However, they were dumped out of the Russian Cup by lower-league Tyumen before drawing with Amkar Perm in the league at the weekend. They welcome the Dragons to the Stadion Petrovski hoping to complete the double over them. But with Atletico Madrid in command of the group, Porto arrive in Russia knowing that three points would open up the race for second spot. Paulo Fonseca's side are in decent form too. They are top of the Portuguese SuperLiga having beaten second-placed Sporting 3-1 before being held to a 1-1 draw against Belenenses at the weekend.
0' HULK TO STRENGTHEN BID
Zenit striker Hulk has vowed to do his best against his former employers as the Russian outfit look for three points which would put them in pole position for qualification to the last 16. The Brazilian scored 54 goals in 99 league games for Porto between 2008 and 2012, and he said: "I grew up in Porto and won titles there so for me these are extra special games. But (it) will be a decisive match for Zenit and that is what makes it extra special. We were very unhappy with our last match in the Russian League. We could have won but we only got a draw - so we will play to win, even though a draw can be a convenient result for us."
0' EARLY ZENIT TEAM NEWS
Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel will be able to line up against Porto after having an additional suspension for his red card in an earlier group game against FK Austria scrubbed by a UEFA appeal committee. Goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev has recovered from a calf injury, but is unlikely to start.
0' FONSECA GOING FOR WIN
Paulo Fonseca insists his Porto side can bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at home a fortnight ago with victory in ice cold Russia. "For Porto, every game is a game to win and Champions League matches are always special," said the 40-year-old. "We will do whatever we can to win because the situation in the group does not leave us with any other choice. Our team is aware of – and respects – Zenit's strengths, but the mentality of our team is strong.
0' EARLY PORTO TEAM NEWS
Porto will miss the suspended Hector Herrera, who has bagged an impressive nine goals so far this season. Juan Quintero (thigh) is also missing. Youngsters Mikel Agu and Diego Reyes both travelled to Russia despite neither having yet made their league debut.
0' MATCH OFFICIALS
The referee in charge of this encounter is 35-year-old Tom Harald Hagen from Grue in the Norwegian municipality of Hedmark. His assistants down the line are Dag-Roger Nebben and Jan Erik Engan while the fourth official on the touchline is Sven Erik Midthjell. The additional assistant officials behind the goal will be Ken Henry Johnsen and Dag Vidar Hafsas while the UEFA Delegate is Teuvo Holopainen from Finland. Tonight's UEFA referee observer is Christakis Skapoullis from Cyprus.
