90' SUMMARY
An exciting climax to a thoroughly decent encounter at White Hart Lane, where the air is filled with furious boos as the final whistle blows. Some of those will be directed at Mark Halsey for that harsh red card for Tom Huddlestone, but most will be aimed at Villas-Boas and his already-underperforming side. Make no mistake, Norwich were the better side here and if it wasn't for the excellent Brad Friedel they would have won. Spurs were sluggish in possession and weak in attack, while Norwich regurgitated the spirit of last season to produce a superb team display. Full time at White Hart Lane, Tottenham Hotspur 1 Norwich City 1.

He's only been on the field for seven minutes, but Tom Huddlestone has just been sent off. It's a surprisingly harsh decision from Mark Halsey - who last sent someone off in 2010 - for what is a hard but fair 50-50 challenge on Howson, with the Norwich man coming off worse. Seen them given, seen them not, but it certainly wasn't malicious.

That's the very least that Norwich deserve today. ROBERT SNODGRASS finally gets the goal their play has more than merited, driving past Friedel after being teed up by Holt from Anthony Pilkington's cross. So much for Spurs attempting to hold on.

That change hints that Villas-Boas is holding on for the 1-0. Norwich will have something to say about that - they're still pushing forward at every opportunity.

Tom Huddlestone, who came close to leaving Spurs in the transfer window, earns a big cheer as he comes off the bench to replace Jermain Defoe.

Bale lines up a thunderbolt of a shot which looks set to test Ruddy to the full, but a deflection takes the sting out of the Welshman's attempt.

Assou-Ekotto is hugely fortunate not to concede a penalty here. A long ball into the box sees him jostle with Morison, tugging his shirt and appearing to catch the Norwich striker with a stray leg. It happened in front of the Norwich fans and they're furious with referee Halsey for waving the appeals away.

Well it's been a decent game but we really could do with a goal here. I wouldn't be surprised if Norwich got it - they're the more cohesive unit by far.

Pressure from the visitors - after a corner is cleared Pilkington forces a top-drawer save from Friedel with a shot across goal. The big American has kept Spurs in this today, just hours after his manager splashed big cash on his likely replacement between the sticks.

Defoe wins a free kick mere inches outside the box when he's fouled by Bassong. In fact replays suggest the challenge may have taken place inside the area. Very, very close though. Anyway, Defoe crashes a rubbish free kick into the wall.

Emmanuel Adebayor is Villas-Boas' next card to play. The disappointing Gylfi Sigurdsson is hauled off and that should mean 4-4-2 for Spurs, matching up Norwich.

Very loud boos from the home 'faithful' as the half time whistle blows. Norwich have played the better football and created the game's two best chances, with Martin hitting the bar and Jackson going very close with a header. Food for thought for Villas-Boas.

Somehow Jackson fails to give Norwich the lead. His header looks corner-bound before Friedel sticks out a paw to push it wide. Wonder if Hugo Lloris is watching?

Not many visiting teams will leave two players up front at White Hart Lane this season, but Norwich are getting success doing exactly that. Jackson and Holt are holding the ball up and relieving any pressure on their team mates.

Cheers from the noisy travelling Norwich fans as Defoe tees himself up for a 20-yard volley, but whacks it miles over the bar.

Totttenham are enjoying their best spell of the game as they begin to move the ball at pace and play some incisive passes.

Lennon finds Sandro whose well-struck shot lacks the direction to seriously trouble John Ruddy. Still, it's a shot on target for Spurs.

Howson beats Assou-Ekotto with ease and his whipped cross isn't claimed by Friedel. The ball breaks to Johnson whose shot isn't too far wide. Norwich close to taking a deserved lead yet again.

So Spurs have seen Modric and Van der Vaart depart, with Sigurdsson, Dempsey and Dembele replacing them. Does that make them better off? Number-wise yes, but any team that loses Modric will be weakened. And none of the three players coming in comes anywhere near to Modric's ability.

The game comes too soon for Lloris and Dempsey, but Dembele is in line to start. Scott Parker (Achilles) and Younes Kaboul (knee) are still on the sidelines. City may hand a debut to Norwegian midfielder Alexander Tettey, a summer signing from Rennes who has received international clearance. Elliott Bennett (knee) and Simon Lappin (ankle) are out, while Elliott Ward (ankle) faces a late fitness test.

After the excitement of transfer deadline day comes the bread and butter of the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City. There'll be a special buzz around White Hart Lane today though after the signings of Hugo Lloris, Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele. The Canaries were more reserved in their spending this week, bringing in goalkeeper Mark Bunn and, ironically, young Spurs striker Harry Kane on loan. Norwich fans will be worried that's not enough to make them avoid a relegation battle. Make no mistake, despite City winning here in April, Spurs are big favourites for three points this afternoon.
