90' CHELSEA IN CONTROL WITH EXPECTED VICTORY
All the signs were pointing to a Chelsea win before the game, and Roberto Di Matteo's men didn't disappoint, running out 4-1 victors against Norwich at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. It wasn't all plain sailing for the Blues, though, with Grant Holt opening the scoring for the visitors early on. Holt had been reinstalled to the Canaries' starting line-up after missing out last time out against Liverpool, and lashed in a half volley from inside the box after just 11 minutes. But Norwich weren't ahead for long, as Chelsea turned on the style and equalised through Fernando Torres just three minutes later, with the Spaniard nodding in Branislav Ivanovic's cross to make it 1-1. The game was open, free-flowing and end-to-end throughout much of the first half, but it was Chelsea who nudged themselves in front with Frank Lampard mirroring Holt's finish to similarily lash in from the edge of the box on 22 minutes. Juan Mata was running the show for the Blues, and he superbly played in Eden Hazard for Chelsea's third just after the half hour mark, with the Belgian sliding the ball past John Ruddy. After the break, the home side's dominance prevailed, as Norwich sat back and allowed Chelsea to push foward. Ivanovic rounded off proceedings on 76 minutes with a finish better suited to a 20-goal-a-season striker rather than a defender, as he thrashed in a scintilating volley to make it 4-1. A deserved and exected victory for Chelsea. It could be a long, long season for Norwich.

Norwich haven't been out of their own half for an age. Chelsea still firmly in control, and could easily have more goals. Their players are literally queuing up in the box, with even David Luiz wanting to get in on the action by venturing into the final third.

Eden Hazard whips in a cross from the right, it misses Fernando Torres but the onrushing Oriol Romeu makes contact and the ball flies goalwards. Not sure how much he knew about it, but it was only just wide of the post.

It's a cliché, but the next goal in this game really is key. If Chelsea get it, that's effectively game over, but if Norwich get it, anything can happen. Chelsea's defence hasn't look too assured so far, so if the visitors nab one back, we could be in for an interesting second half.

Chelsea go into the break 3-1 up against Norwich at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are good value for their lead, but Norwich have shown improvements after last weekend's 5-2 drubbing by Liverpool. Grant Holt opened the scoring for the visitors, but goals from Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard and Eden Hazard mean Roberto Di Matteo's side are well in control.

Bradley Johnson has just taken down two Chelsea players in a matter of seconds. He goes to tackle John Obi Mikel and then David Luiz, and manages to catch both players' knees with his studs in the process. Both of them roll around in pain, but both, expectedly, are alright.

Oscar does well on the right-hand side, and manages to get a lovely cross into the Norwich box. But who's on the end of it? Torres? No. It's Ashley Cole, in nosebleed territory, who leaps to head goalwards but is just lacking a bit of height so ends up making very little connection before watching the ball go behind.

Almost an exact replica of Grant Holt's finish. Torres attempts an overhead kick but his effort is blocked, and on the half volley, Lampard - like Holt - lashes into the net to make it 2-1.

I think I might have spoken too soon, as Alexander Tettey gets himself into a great position and completely fluffs his header goalwards. Despite being unmarked right in the middle, the Norwegian's attempt goes well wide.

After seeing Norwich well and truly roll over at the hands of Liverpool last weekend, one could have expected the Canaries to do the same against Chelsea today. But, so far, they've held their own and have looked decent at times. I won't speak too soon, though.

Chelsea players queue up on the edge of the Norwich box, and appear to have plenty of opportunities to shoot. They're somewhat guilty of over-playing, though, as their attack is broken down.

Fernando Torres has just squandered a superb chance. He latches onto a ball over the top of the Norwich defence, makes a great first touch to take it into the box, but with Leon Barnett closing in, tries to cut inside onto his left foot and gets himself into a big mess. Should have at least got a shot away.

Sebastien Bassong could be fit for Norwich after suffering from a hamstring strain, and his return would provide Chris Hughton with some extra power at the heart of his side's defence. Anthony Pilkington is touch-and-go having returned to training following a back injury, Steven Whittaker and Harry Kane are both definitely out.

John Terry was left on the bench for Chelsea's trip to Nordsjaelland in midweek, but he's likely to return to the starting line-up this afternoon. Same too for Eden Hazard, who also had to sit out of his side's Champions League win. Daniel Sturridge once again misses out, but the England forward is expected to return to action after the international break having missed Chelsea's last five games with a hamstring injury.
0' HEAD-TO-HEAD
Since Norwich's relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 1994/95 season, these two have met seven times - four times in the league, and three in the FA Cup. The cumulative score stands across those seven games is Chelsea 18, Norwich 2, with the Blues recording five big victories in that time. Before that, though, ties between the two were fairly even. You could even say that Norwich edged it. Even in their relegation season, they beat the Blues 3-0 at Carrow Road, with Ashley Ward (2) and Jamie Cureton on the scoresheet. The season before that, they visited Stamford Bridge and came away with all three points, thanks to goals from Ruel Fox and Chris Sutton. But that's in the past, and recent meetings stand overwhelmingly in Chelsea's favour, so we could be in for a fair few goals this afternoon.
0' TOUGH TASK AHEAD
Norwich could be in for a tough afternoon today. They were drubbed 5-2 at home to Liverpool last weekend - a game in which they never really threatened - and come up against a Chelsea side that has scored 12 goals in three games in all competitions. And although the Canaries' back line hasn't been overly leaky this season, it showed against Liverpool last time out, and against Fulham on the opening day, just what happens when it comes under the cosh. Scoring goals has been a problem for Chris Hughton's side this year, too, having only netted four times in the league so far. It could therefore be a case of damage limitation for the visitors this afternoon.
0' EARLY SEASON TITLE CONTENDERS
Chelsea have captialised on the less-than-convincing starts made by the two Manchester clubs, and six games in, find themselves top of the Premier League table, three points clear of Everton in second. But despite showing promise on the pitch so far this season, distractions off the field have plagued the Blues' season, with the John Terry saga still bubbling along after the Chelsea captain received a four-match ban for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand - a decable not helped by Ashley Cole's outburst in the direction of the FA on Twitter yesterday. But these incidents haven't - so far - threatened to derail the Blues, who recorded their biggest away win in Europe for five years on Tuesday evening, with a 4-0 victory in Norway against Nordsjaelland. Everything - playing-wise, certainly - is running smoothly and to plan for Di Matteo and co. so far this year.
