Norwich City vs. Arsenal
Minute Commentary
90' FT: NORWICH 1 ARSENAL 0
Norwich produce one of the shock results of the season as they beat Arsenal at Carrow Road to record their first Premier League victory of the season. The only goal came on 20 minutes when Alex Tettey's shot was too hot to handle for Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone and Grant Holt was on hand to put home the loose ball. Norwich were excellent and could have won by a greater margin, with Michael Turner putting a free header wide of the post and Holt stubbing his foot when clean through after an error by Thomas Vermaelen. Arsenal, by contrast, were lacklustre and dreadfully disappointing with their players appearing to be feeling the pace after the international break. Arsene Wenger will not wish to use that as an excuse, but he will be upset over the result and equally concerned about seeing the influential Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain limp off only nine minutes after coming on as a substitute. Norwich boss and former Tottenham player Chris Hughton could not have picked better opponents for his first win in charge.
90' NORWICH SUBSTITUTION
Wesley Hoolahan is replaced by Ryan Bennett.
90' NORWICH SUBSTITUTION
Steve Morison replaces Grant Holt. We have entered five minutes of added time.
89' FINE BLOCK BY BASSONG
Gnabry slides a fine pass forward for Gervinho, but Sebastian Bassong shows great commitment to get across and make a superb block.
87' RUDDY SOLID AGAIN
Mikel Arteta tests Ruddy with a low shot from 20 yards, but the Norwich goalkeeper does well to hold on to the ball with Mertesacker closing in.
84' WIDE BY GNABRY
Gnabry is instantly in the action, but drags a 25-yard shot well wide.
83' ARSENAL SUBSTITUTION
Serge Gnabry, an attacking midfielder, comes on to make his Premier League debut with Aaron Ramsey making way.
82' BAD MISS FROM HOLT
Vermaelen gifts the ball to Holt, who tries to chip the goalkeeper and stubs his foot. The weak shot would barely have reached the goal and Holt will be kicking himself for not opting for power rather than finesse.
79' NORWICH SUBSTITUTION
Robert Snodgrass replaces the hard-working Elliott Bennett. The former Leeds man has been out with an ankle injury recently.
77' SHAKY IN DEFENCE
Pilkington's angled free-kick into the area causes some consternation among the Arsenal backline, but the ball does not drop kindly to Johnson and the Gunners smuggle it clear.
74' ARSENAL SUBSTITUTION
Oxlade-Chamberlain's day is done after nine minutes and he limps off to be replaced by Andrey Arshavin.
73' HOLT SHOOTS WIDE
Norwich break quickly after a blunder by Mertesacker, but Holt shoots well wide from 25 yards.
72' TAME FREE-KICK
Santi Cazorla curls a direct free-kick around the wall, but Ruddy has enough time to get across and catch the ball with no difficulty.
71' NORWICH BOOKING
Michael Turner mis-times a tackle on Giroud and is deservedly shown his first yellow card of the season.
67' INJURED ALREADY
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain goes on a burst down the right, but appears to have damaged his back in the process and is certainly not moving freely.
66' ARSENAL SUBSTITUTION
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replaces Lukas Podolski.
65' SO EASY FOR RUDDY
Gervinho can only manage a tame header which Ruddy plucks gratefully out of the air and the Canaries goalkeeper makes another routine save from Giroud soon after.
62' NORWICH BOOKING
Grant Holt is booked for dissent.
61' STILL LOOKING GOOD
Grant Holt shrugs off the attentions of Aaron Ramsey and finds Wes Hoolahan, but Carl Jenkinson makes an important tackle as the ball finds its way into the Arsenal area. Bradley Johnson then shoots well over the bar.
57' LE SULK PART TWO
Olivier Giroud's body language is dreadful every time he loses the ball. Combine the Frenchman's skill with Grant Holt's determination and you would have quite some player.
56' NORWICH BOOKING
Hoolahan is booked for shooting for goal after the whistle had already gone. Mr Probert considers that to be time-wasting.
54' HOOLAHAN SO INFLUENTIAL
It can't be coincidence that Wesley Hoolahan, so influential in Norwich rising through the divisions, is starting today for the first time this season and the Canaries are in front.
53' WIDE FROM GIROUD
Arsenal finally manufacture a chance. Ruddy punches feebly at Jenkinson's cross, his clearance hits Cazorla and Giroud swivels before hooking a shot wide.
51' KEPT IN CHECK
Garrido delivers a good-looking cross to the far post, but Holt is well marshalled by Santos. Arsenal clear.
50' OX IN THE BOX
Don't be surprised to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain warming up before long. Gervinho would be a good candidate to make way, unless Wenger wants to switch to playing two strikers.
48' WHERE'S WILSHERE?
Listening to Arsene Wenger being interviewed before today's game, you expected the best Jack Wilshere could expect was to play the last ten minutes or so of this match. A cautious Wenger said the England man was not quite ready for a return to action, but he may have changed his mind after that lacklustre display from his side in the first half.
46' HERE WE GO AGAIN
Arsenal get the second half under way.
45' HT: NORWICH 1 ARSENAL 0
Well, here's a turn up for the books. Norwich, one of only two sides in the Premier League without a victory this season, lead Arsenal at the break. The opener came on 19 minutes from Grant Holt, but owed much to poor goalkeeping from Vito Mannone. The third-choice Arsenal stopper could only parry a fierce strike from Alex Tettey straight back in front of him, gifting Holt a chance that Delia Smith could have netted with her eyes closed. Norwich might have added a second, but Michael Turner headed wide when left unmarked at an Anthony Pikington corner. Arsenal? They started quite brightly but have faded since the opening ten minutes and are going to get a rocket from Arsene Wenger at the interval.
43' GUNNERS UNDERPERFORMING
It would be no surprise to see Arsenal make a change at the interval. Too many of their players are off colour.
39' MIS-KICK FROM GERVINHO
Gervinho is left unmarked at the far post from a Mikel Arteta free-kick, but the Ivorian mis-kicks horribly and the chance is spurned.
36' TURNER SHOULD HAVE SCORED
Anthony Plikington delivers a magnificent corner from the right. Arsenal's defenders look at each other, allowing the unmarked Michael Turner to get in a powerful header which goes wide of the near post.
32' HOLT WAS ONSIDE
Having seen the replay of Norwich's goal, we should say that it suggests Holt was just onside, so Arsenal have no reason to feel hard done by.
30' RARE ARSENAL THREAT
Gervinho's half-blocked shot finds its way through to Giroud. Ruddy makes an excellent save, not knowing at the time that the flag was up for offside.
28' DODGY 'KEEPER
Uncertainty from Mannone allows Holt to reach an over-hit pass by Hoolahan. Fortunately for the out-of-position goalkeeper, the cross fails to pick out a Norwich attacker.
26' CREATIVE INFLUENCE
Cazorla has created 21 scoring chances for team-mates from open play, which is the most by any player plying his trade in any of Europe's top five leagues.
24' NORWICH BOOKING
Bradley Johnson is cautioned for a high challenge on Santi Cazorla.
23' EASY FOR RUDDY
Arsenal try to mount an instant response, but Giroud's flicked header is straight at Ruddy.
21' MORE ON THAT GOAL
Alex Tettey fired a dipping drive which Mannone could only parry right in front of goal. Holt reacted the quickest to net the rebound, though he was probably first to the loose ball because he appeared to be in an offside position when the initial shot was struck.
20' GOAL: NORWICH 1 ARSENAL 0
Grant Holt gives Norwich the lead.
19' GIROUD IN THE WARS
Olivier Giroud needs brief treatment on a neck injury after an aerial challenge from Michael Turner. He will be back on very shortly.
16' LACKING AMBITION
Holt wins an initial flicked header and Russell Martin is free to deliver a cross from the right. Disappointingly for the home side there is no one there to prosper and Arsenal eventually clear their lines without alarm.
14' HOLT WORKING HARD
Norwich centre-forward Grant Holt is trying to put himself about and unnerve Arsenal's two centre-backs. The England hopeful is warned to calm down after one over-zealous challenge on Thomas Vermaelen.
11' IN NEED OF A RESULT
With just three points from their opening seven games, this is Norwich's worst ever start to a top-flight season. They will do well to add to that points tally today.
8' HOW THEY LINE UP
Arsenal are deploying their now-familiar five-man midfield with Gervinho wide on the right and Olivier Giroud leading the line on his own.
5' ONLY JUST WIDE
Podolski is instantly in the thick of the action again, shooting across the face of goal after an incisive move down the left.
4' WELL-TIMED TACKLE
At the other end, a last-gasp tackle by Martin takes the ball off the foot of Podolski just as he was about to shoot.
3' JUST WIDE FROM PILKINGTON
Pilkington tries a shot from 25 yards and pulls his effort just wide of Mannone's right-hand post.
1' HERE WE GO
Norwich kick off, attacking the goal to our right.
0' TEAM NEWS
Jack Wilshere is on the Arsenal bench and could see his first action for the Gunners in 16 months, while Andre Santos replaces the injured Kieran Gibbs for the visitors. Norwich make two changes, with Turner and Pilkington coming in for Howson and Ryan Bennett, who are both on the bench.

0' PREVIEW
We may only be seven games into the new Premier League season, but already Norwich are looking prime candidates to fall prey to the second season syndrome that so often afflicts promoted clubs. Still without a win under new manager Chris Hughton, they will do well to reverse the trend today with Arsenal the visitors to Carrow Road. Norwich have had problems at both ends of the pitch. Their five goals scored is the joint lowest in the top flight and they have been leaking goals too, with just one clean sheet in seven games. It's a recipe for disaster. Arsenal bounced back well in their last match, recording an impressive 3-1 victory at West Ham to erase the memory of a home defeat by Chelsea. With matches to come at Manchester United and Everton and home to Spurs before the end of the November, the Gunners will learn much more about where they stand in the Premier League pecking order in the coming weeks but must stay focused on the job at hand today against a fragile but always entertaining Norwich side. There could also be an added bonus of a rare sighting of the lesser spotted Jack Wilshere on the pitch at some stage for Arsenal today as he is close to a return from his injury hell. England manager Roy Hodgson for one will be delighted after that dismal display in Poland on Wednesday. Today's game kicks off at 1730BST, so join us around 30 minutes beforehand when we should have the confirmed team news, which will be followed by a match commentary.
0' PLAYERS TO WATCH
Sky Sports News viewers yesterday voted Santi Cazorla the best signing of the summer made by a Premier League club and it has hard to argue, especially having witnessed that stunning strike at Upton Park a fortnight ago. Cazorla is certainly not afraid of going for goal from midfield, his 29 shots on goal by far the most of any Arsenal player. Grant Holt looks like Norwich's best hope of finding the net and Canaries fans will be hoping his physical presence unsettles the visiting defence. City goalkeeper John Ruddy has been kept busy, his 24 saves ranks fifth among Premier League goalkeepers and the home side will need a big display from the England deputy today if they are to have any chance of pulling off a shock.
0' HEAD TO HEAD
Arsenal have the better head-to-head record in league meetings between the sides with 19 wins to eight by Norwich and 17 games being drawn. At Carrow Road, it is six wins apiece and a further 10 meetings ending up all square. The corresponding match last season was played on November 19 and finished in a 2-1 win for Arsenal. Steve Morison gave the home side a 16th-minute lead but a goal in each half from Robin van Persie gave the visitors the points. The return match at the Emirates Stadium on May 5 produced a thrilling 3-3 draw, with Van Persie again scoring twice for Arsenal after Yossi Benayoun had given them a second-minute lead and Wes Hoolahan, Grant Holt and Morison replying for Norwich. The Canaries have failed to win any of their last nine meetings with Arsenal in the league, their last triumph coming on Aug.15 1992 when they came from two down at the interval at Highbury to secure a stunning 4-2 victory. Their last win in this fixture at Carrow Road came on Boxing Day 1984.
0' FORM GUIDE
Norwich start the weekend next to bottom with three points from their opening seven games. They were hammered 5-0 at Fulham on the opening day of the season, drew successive matches with Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham and West Ham before losing their next three to Newcastle, Liverpool and Chelsea. Arsenal lie seventh, seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea, to whom they suffered their only defeat.
0' EARLY TEAM NEWS
Norwich will give a late fitness test to midfielder Robert Snodgrass, who was ruled out for Scotland in midweek because of an ankle problem. Defender Steven Whittaker is definitely out with an ankle injury and on-loan striker Harry Kane has a broken metatarsal. England midfielder Jack Wilshere could be on the Arsenal bench, having been sidelined for 14 months with ankle and knee injuries. Defender Laurent Koscielny (back) is out, as are Kieran Gibbs (thigh) and Theo Walcott (chest). Also missing are goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski (both ankle), midfielders Abou Diaby (thigh) and Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) and defender Bacary Sagna (broken leg). Midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is fit again after a long-term knee problem.
0' MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Taking charge of today's game is Lee Probert, who was appointed to the Select Group Referees List in 2007. In terms of cards-per-game the Gloucestershire official was one of the most lenient in the top flight last season, producing just 44 yellow cards and four red cards in 22 matches. Probert has refereed five Premier League games this season, administering 15 cautions. His assistants today are Ron Ganfield and Dave Bryan, while Andre Marriner is the fourth official.
