90' FULL TIME REPORT
1-1 was how it ended at St Mary's tonight as both sides pushed for a winner late on but neither could find that luck they needed. Southampton were much the better side in the first half and came close through Lallana with a volley before Rickie Lambert put them 1-0 with 12 minutes to go until the break. On 45 minutes though, the Canaries were level thanks to Paulo Gazzaniga's poor handling of Robert Snodgrass' free kick. Into the second half and Southampton continued to dominate proceedings with Norwich only carving out half-chances. Jason Puncheon tested Mark Bunn before the visitors felt they should have had a penalty when Luke Shaw appeared to hack down Snodgrass, but Mark Clattenburg said no. Southampton deserved the win more but both sides will be upset with a draw. Full time, and it's 1-1.

Southampton feel they should have a free kick in a hazardous position but Clattenburg plays the advantage and the home side get a corner out of it. Unfortunately the corner is straight into the arms of Mark Bunn.

Alexander Tettey starts the move and quickly shifts the ball out wide to Anthony Pilkington who wins a corner for Norwich.

Paulo Gazzaniga is quickly closed down by Grant Holt but he manages to get rid. I'm sure his earlier mistake will still be on his mind.

The ball keeps being knocked out of play after Norwich try to move forward. It's been a very weird game tonight, to say the least.

After a dangerous free kick from Gaston Ramirez is cleared, Adam Lallana picks the ball up and chips it into the middle but no-one is waiting there for him.

Nathaniel Clyne bursts forward with energy and troubles Javier Garrido at left back, he plays in Gaston Ramirez who fails to pick out a striker.

45' HALF TIME REPORT
A 45th minute leveller meant the sides went into interval as odd as even. The game started well for Southampton and they were the better side and it was clear to see. Adam Lallana came very close to putting his side ahead with a looping volley after 25 minutes. Eight minutes later, they did pull in front thanks to Rickie Lambert after a goalmouth scramble. Norwich couldn't get a sniff of the goal until they got a free kick on the edge of the box on the stroke of half time. Robert Snodgrass stepped up and fired the ball underneath the body of Paulo Gazzaniga, however he really should have saved it. Half time and the teams are all square.
45' HALF TIME
The referee blows his whistle and the teams go in level at 1-1.
45' GOOOAAALLL!!!
Paulo Gazzaniga makes ANOTHER error. A free kick is fired hard and low from ROBERT SNODGRASS and the ball goes through his body and in.
44' GOOD FROM TETTEY
Alexander Tettey has been Norwich's best player by a mile tonight. His runs are brilliant and the full backs struggle when he's running at them.
41' GOOD POSITION
Ironic cheers echo around the ground as the referee gives a decision in the home side's favour. The free kick that follows just bends round Mark Bunn's right-hand post.
38' NOT POPULAR
Mark Clattenburg is keeping up his reputation of being one of the most controversial refs, he seems to be giving everything against Southampton and is being booed at every opportunity by the Saints fans.
36' IN THE MOOD
Southampton look hungry now, they try attacking again with Gaston Ramirez who looks more up for it than others but a defender gets across to stop him in his tracks.
33' GOOOAAALLL!!!
RICKIE LAMBERT grabs his sixth goal of the season - albeit in messy fashion. Adam Lallana delivers the ball into a congested area and it ricochets off a defender and Lambert pokes home.
31' CONTENT
Southampton are just playing the ball about between their defenders in the hope of tiring Norwich out. Then they can go forward.
28' EFFORT
Adam Lallana turns his man easily and cuts inside, he whips in a cross but it evades everyone and goes into the grateful arms of Paulo Gazzaniga.
25' SO NEARLY INCREDIBLE
Rickie Lambert gets into a great position out wide and dinks a precise ball to the far post where Adam Lallana is waiting to strike a beautiful looping volley. Unfortunately for him it loops a little too late and hits the roof of the net.
24' DAZZLING RUN
Alexander Tettey goes on a driving run forward and surges past several defenders, however Luke Shaw gets back to usher Tettey out of play. Great defending from the youngster.
22' POOR SERVICE
Anthony Pilkington fails to continue yet another promising move by the Canaries as his cross is to no-one and the ball goes out.
21' WASTED CHANCE
Anthony Pilkington crosses over a free kick which is long and deep, a little too deep as Ryan Bennett fails to keep it in and Paulo Gazzaniga gets the ball for a goal kick.
19' TAKING CONTROL
Norwich are gradually bringing themselves into the game as it wears on.
16' GOOD AREA
Jason Puncheon brings down a man in yellow and the visitors have a free kick in a great position just to the left. Robert Snodgrass has two bites at the cherry but both deliveries are poor.

Mark Bunn punts the ball upfield in the hope of finding the big target man Grant Holt, but he's crowded out and Paulo Gazzaniga collects the ball easily.
12' ANOTHER ATTACK
Southampton attack again with speed and the ball is played into the box by Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana flicks it up but loses track of the ball for a minute and Norwich get rid.
9' GOOD CHANCE
Southampton move the ball quickly from left to right and Jason Puncheon crosses. The ball falls to an unmarked Rickie Lambert who gets his header all wrong and Ryan Bennett averts danger.
6' EARLY CORNER
Some good running from Morgan Schneiderlin allows him to spray the ball wide to Nathaniel Clyne whose cross is sent out for a corner. However, Luke Shaw's delivery is easily cleared.
4' EASY SAVE
The first shot of the game comes from Wesley Hoolahan but he fails to trouble visiting 'keeper Paulo Gazzaniga as his shot is straight at him.

We're only three minutes in here yet the passes are very inaccurate and neither side can hold the ball.

Two-and-a-half years ago this was a League One fixture, but after successive promotions for both clubs, the two now do battle in England's top flight, something which not even the greatest of psychics would have predicted. Southampton are in good form for a side who languish perilously low in the table, with victories in their last two games, while Norwich are without defeat since Oct 6 and will be hoping that run extends tonight.
