Minute Commentary
90' SPURS SNATCH GOOD WIN AT FULHAM
If you'd have said to fans at Craven Cottage at half time that Fulham and Spurs would finish 3-0 to the visitors, it's likely that the majority would have laughed in your face. The first half was painfully flat and lacked any real action, but into the second period, Sandro's 55th minute strike, followed by a quickfire Jermain Defoe brace, sealed Spurs' third Premier League victory in eight days, and moves them up to fourth in the table. Gareth Bale, Michael Dawson and Sascha Riether were all forced off with injuries, which will no doubt worry their respective clubs. But what's more worrying for Fulham is the fact that they've now not won in seven league games.
90' FULL TIME
That's it. Three second half goals seal a 3-0 victory for Spurs over Fulham at Craven Cottage. It wasn't particularly pretty, and at times bordered on the dull, but it's a good three points for Andre Villas-Boas.
90' RIISE TAKES A KNOCK
John Arne Riise looks in some discomfort, but will be forced to stay on the field as Fulham have made all three subs.
90' PETERING OUT
Fulham are doing their best to try and work an opening, but it's been an overall frustrating afternoon for them in all honesty. We've got four minutes added on here.
86' HEADED WIDE
Damien Duff swings in Fulham's second only corner of the game. Stephen Kelly gets on the end of it, but heads wide.
84' SPURS SUB
Mousa Dembele, who's had a quiet afternoon by his standards, is replaced by youngster Tom Carroll.
82' TAME HEADER
Damien Duff crosses from the right in the direction of Hugo Rodallega, but the Colombian's header is straight at Lloris, who claims easily.
79' FULHAM SUB
Hugo Rodallega replaces Mladen Petric, but it's far too late for the Colombian to help Fulham claw something from this one.
77' MORE ON THAT GOAL!
Definitely game over now. Clint Dempsey picks up the ball in the middle and waits until the perfect moment to slot through Jermain Defoe, who drives low past Schwarzer. Nice finish.
77' GOAL!
Jermain Defoe scores for Spurs!
76' 15 MINUTES LEFT
Fulham are going to have to do something differently if they want to get something from this one. They've enjoyed a decent share of possession, but haven't looked threatening at all, really.
72' MORE ON THAT GOAL!
He's barely had a sniff today, but as soon as Jermain Defoe gets a sight on goal, you'd be foolish not to back him to score. Gylfi Sigurdsson plays an important part in creating an opening, as he turns Philippe Senderos inside out before slipping the ball across to Defoe, who lashes in from close range. Based on what we've seen so far from Fulham, I'd say that's game over.
72' GOAL!
Jermain Defoe scores for Spurs!
71' STILL AN EVEN GAME
Despite leading 1-0, Spurs still don't look particularly convincing. Saying that, neither do Fulham. Less than 20 minutes left and the game is still for the taking for the home side.
66' HEADED OVER
Damien Duff is played through down the left flank after a superb touch from Berbatov. Duff crosses into the mix but Ashkan Dejagah's header flies narrowly over the bar.
65' PULLED BACK ON THE EDGE
Dimitar Berbatov tries to get away from Gylfi Sigurdsson just outside the D, but is pulled back by the Icelandic midfielder. Mladen Petric's free kick - from a good position - is wasted, flying well over the crossbar.
62' FULHAM SUB
Damien Duff is on for Kerim Frei.
62' SPURS SUB
Gylfi Sigurdsson replaces Bale, who limps off the field gingerly.
60' FLUID COUNTER
Spurs flood forward after clearing up a Fulham attack. Gareth Bale is played through on goal but his shot is blocked by Mark Schwarzer, and Bale appears to have pulled something in that move. He clutched his left hamstring immediately after getting the shot away.
58' YELLOW CARD
William Gallas is booked for what looks like dissent.
56' MORE ON THAT GOAL!
A goal out of nothing, but they all count. With nothing on, Sandro attempts a shot from about 30 yards out. It's low and not particularly hard, but it somehow manages to evade Mark Schwarzer's dive to nestle in the corner of the net. You've got to be asking questions of the Australian goalkeeper there; it was a poor effort.
56' GOAL!
Sandro scores for Spurs!
54' FULHAM PRESSING
Fulham get some momentum as Dimitar Berbatov finds himself with the ball on the right flank. He pulls it back to the edge of the box but misses his teammates.
49' CLEAN THROUGH BUT OFFSIDE
Ashkan Dejagah races through on goal and is denied by a strong stop from Hugo Lloris. The referee pulls it back for offside, but it was a good save nonetheless.
48' POOR FINISH
Sandro is caught dawdling on the ball by Mladen Petric, who then feeds the onrushing Steve Sidwell, but his shot is dragged wide of the post.
46' BACK UNDERWAY
No changes at half time, but I'm sure both managers told their teams to go out in this second period and inject a bit of urgency and quality into their game. Fulham get things underway.
45' HALF TIME
Chris Foy calls time on a disappointing first half of football, in which neither Fulham nor Spurs have showed sufficient quality to make something happen. Improvement needed in the second period.
45' COMFORTABLE SAVE
Jermain Defoe gets a shot away from the edge of the box, but Mark Schwarzer is able to claim easily. You sense a bit of frustration from the England striker, who simply hasn't been involved so far.
44' QUALITY SHINES THROUGH
The only saving grace, as is so often the case, is being able to watch Dimitar Berbatov. At his best, the Bulgarian forward is almost unplayable, and seems to have so much more time than anyone else on the field.
40' CHANGES NEEDED AT THE BREAK
The two managers will surely be considering changes at half time, if only to liven up a so far flat game. Fulham can call upon the likes of Damien Duff, Hugo Rodallega and Kieran Richardson, while Spurs have Kyle Walker and Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench who could light up the game.
36' DEAD GAME SO FAR
The game is being played at somewhat of a sluggish pace, and barely anything has happened since I last said barely anything has happened. A wayward Jan Vertonghen cross from the left sums up the match so far.
32' INJECTION OF PACE
Aaron Lennon makes a surging run down the centre of the field, before slotting in Jermain Defoe. His pass has just too much on it, though, allowing Mark Schwarzer to come out and claim.
29' FULHAM SUB
Sascha Riether has picked up a knock and so is having to be replaced by former Spurs full back Stephen Kelly.
26' GREAT SAVE
Mladen Petric gets on the end of John Arne Riise's cross from the left and looks as though he's going to score, only to be denied by a super save from Hugo Lloris. Up the other end, Clint Dempsey drives wide across goal.
23' YELLOW CARD
Gareth Bale is booked for diving, after flinging himself over Mahamadou Diarra's leg. He sarcastically (and stupidly) claps Chris Foy's decision, and could have been in even deeper trouble had the referee seen that action.
20' SLOWED DOWN
Not much to report in this one so far. A decent chance apiece and Dawson's injury are the only incidents of note, with most of the football being tightly contested in the midfield.
17' SPURS SUB
William Gallas is the man to replace Dawson, taking the captain's armband as well.
15' DAWSON DOWN
Spurs skipper Michael Dawson stretches to clear Ashkan Dejagah's cross, and in doing so appears to have pulled his hamstring. He's going to have to go off, which is a blow to both Spurs and Dawson himself, having only just recovered from a relatively long spell on the sidelines.
13' WASTED CHANCE
Best chance of the game so far, and it goes to Fulham. Yet again, Berbatov is at the centre, beautifully rolling the ball through his legs out wide to Ashkan Dejagah. Dejagah crosses into the middle through a number of bodies and Kerim Frei's side-footed effort flies wide of the far post.
8' FANS ON HIS BACK
Dempsey goes flying after being unceremoniously fouled by Mahamadou Diarra, much to the pleasure of the Fulham faithful who have booed the American's every touch so far. Gareth Bale fires the resulting free kick embarrassingly wide.
6' SHOULD HAVE SCORED
Tottenham have a great chance to go 1-0 up through Clint Dempsey (who else?), who shows some great close control inside the box before shooting left-footed wide of the post. Should have at least got it on target there.
4' DEFENCE SPLITTING PASS
Lovely play early on from Dimitar Berbatov, who in one movement spins and lays off a wonderful pass towards Steve Sidwell who's bearing down on goal. Hugo Lloris gets off his line quickly to collect, and does well, but great stuff from Berbatov.
1' HERE WE GO
Spurs get things underway, playing in their changed, all-navy strip. Fulham meanwhile, line up in their familiar white shirts, black shorts and white socks.
0' SPURS TEAM
Fulham old boys Clint Dempsey and Mousa Dembélé start for Spurs this afternoon. Full line-up: Lloris, Naughton, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen, Lennon, Dembele, Sandro, Bale, Defoe, Dempsey. Subs: Friedel, Gallas, Sigurdsson, Falque, Walker, Livermore, Carroll.
0' FULHAM TEAM
Mladen Petric, Kerim Frei and Ashkan Dejagah come in for Fulham, with Giorgos Karagounis, Damien Duff and Hugo Rodallega dropping to the bench. Full line-up: Schwarzer, Riether, Senderos, Hughes, Riise, Frei, Diarra, Sidwell, Dejagah, Berbatov, Petric. Subs: Etheridge, Kelly, Baird, Karagounis, Richardson, Duff, Rodallega.
0' KICK-OFF - 15:00 GMT
Join us just before kick-off for all the confirmed team news and all the action from Craven Cottage.
0' SPURS EARLY TEAM NEWS
Defender Steven Caulker could play after missing Spurs' midweek win over Liverpool through illness. Emmanuel Adebayor is suspended, while Scott Parker, Younes Kaboul, Benoit Assou-Ekotto are all long-term absentees.
0' FULHAM EARLY TEAM NEWS
Kieran Richardson is available for the home side after hobbling off in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal last month with a hamstring injury. Alex Kacaniklic, Simon Davies and Bryan Ruiz are definitely out, while influential skipper Brede Hangeland is serving the final game of his three-match ban.
0' HEAD-TO-HEAD
Spurs have won each of the last five Premier League meetings between these two sides, with a cumulative scoreline of 11-3. In this fixture last year, they ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Aaron Lennon, Jermain Defoe and Fulham's Chris Baird, who put into his own net after just 10 minutes. Spurs dominate the historical meetings, too, having won on 32 occasions in the league, compared to Fulham's 10.
0' SPURS ON FORM
Tottenham go into this afternoon's fixture with Fulham on the back of two straight wins in the Premier League. The victories, against West Ham and then Liverpool, capped off what would have been a disappointing November for André Villas-Boas' side, having suffered three consecutive league defeats against Wigan, Man City and Arsenal. But on Wednesday night against Liverpool, Spurs were fluid, composed and exciting; it all simply clicked. Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon were superb on the flanks, while Fulham old boy Mousa Dembélé was tireless through the middle. Their run of fixtures between now and the new year sees them face three sides vying for a European spot – Everton, Swansea and Stoke – so they'll highlight today's clash with Fulham as a winnable encounter ahead of the festive fixtures.
0' COURAGEOUS COTTAGERS
At first glance, Fulham's recent form is pretty poor. They picked up just three points from a possible 15 in November, losing against both Stoke and Sunderland. But gritty draws against Everton, Arsenal and most recently, Chelsea, has shown that Martin Jol's side won't roll over for the big boys this season. Today's visit of Spurs is an interesting one. The Cottages have lost each of their last five league meetings against their fellow Londoners, but their recent outings against European-chasing opposition suggests that record may soon be defunct. Clint Dempsey is sure to get, shall we say, an interesting reception when he lines up for Spurs this afternoon. Like Mousa Dembélé, the US international swapped Craven Cottage for White Hart Lane in the summer after five years at Fulham, and recently claimed he didn't feel valued playing for the Cottagers. Way to upset the apple cart, Clint.
0' THE MATCH
Tottenham Hotspur make the short trip across London to visit Craven Cottage, where they'll face a resilient Fulham side that has picked up important points of late. Kick-off is 15:00 GMT.
