90' SOLID STOKE TAKE THE POINTS
It may not be pretty, but you can not argue with the results that Stoke get from their brand of football and once again they come away with a win. West Brom will feel aggrieved that they didn't get a draw, but they simply failed to create anything of note despite having a lot of the ball. Dean Whitehead grabbed the winner when a mix up in the Albion defence was seized on by Michael Kightly, who crossed for his fellow substitute to tap home. The last ten minutes saw the Baggies pour forward and create a rare chance through Graham Dorrans, but his shot was saved.

Youssouf Mulumbu forces his way through to the byline and pulls the ball back, but the first player to react is Robert Huth and he sends the ball out for a corner.

Claudio Yacob does well to power through a crowd of players to meet a corner, but his header is just close enough to Asmir Begovic for the keeper to grab.

West Brom and their fans are starting to look a bit desperate. Surely it is time for Steve Clarke to step in and make a couple of substitutions as this just isn't working.

45' BLOOD AND THUNDER AT HAWTHORNS
Neither West Brom or Stoke have been able to get hold of this game, although the visitors have spent a great deal of time grabbing hold of shirts and kicking legs. However, West Brom have failed to show their best side either as they continue to give the ball away and allow Stoke to gather men back in numbers. Steve Clarke has a lot to do at the break if he is to inspire his team onward, whilst Tony Pulis will just ask for more from his side. Referee Kevin Friend may also want to take a look at himself during half time.

The referee puts us out of our misery by bringing the half to an end. This has to get better in the second half.
44' YELLOW CARD
A nasty, rash challenge and the sort of tackle we have come to expect from Charlie Adam. The midfielder goes into the referee's book.
42' TERRIBLE CORNER
All sorts of pushing and shoving in the area, but the referee ignores them whilst Graham Dorrans sends in an appalling corner kick.
39' WEST BROM NEED TEMPO
The home side are in control of the game, but they are to slow in shifting possession around with Claudio Yacob and Youssouf Mulumbu needing too many touches. Steve Clarke needs to get his side playing one-touch football if they are to pull this Stoke side out of position.
35' YELLOW CARD
Shane Long is never going to reach the ball, but Robert Huth crashes into the striker and gives away a free kick. The defender is then shown a yellow card to cheers from the crowd.
32' WEST BROM UNHAPPY
Graham Dorrans is felled and the players are up in arms as the referee refuses to give the home side a free kick. Boos ring out around the Hawthorns all directed at Kevin Friend.
28' BLOCKED SHOT
Some excitement at the Hawthorns as West Brom finally get a passing move to flow and Youssouf Mulumbu races forward, but his shot is charged down.
26' STOKE STAY SOLID
West Brom are trying to work their way into this game, but Stoke continue to stand their ground as they grind this game into tedium. Surely West Brom will eventually manage to put some pressure on the visitors?
22' GREAT PASS
Markus Rosenberg comes alive as he strides on to the ball and lays it off to Graham Dorrans, but the midfielder was not on the same wavelength and the move breaks down.
18' FRUSTRATION
West Brom are not happy with Stoke's heavy-handed approach. Youssouf Mulumbu looks like he is at breaking point as he goes in hard and gets pulled up for a foul.
14' JUST WIDE
A massive chance for Stoke as Kenwyne Jones pulls clear on the far post and has a free header. The big striker gets a good contact, but it is inches wide of the post.
12' GOOD HEADER
West Brom do well to defend yet another Stoke up-and-under, before breaking out. Graham Dorrans tries to pick out the run of Shane Long, but Robert Huth does well to head the ball clear.
9' GOOD CLAIM
Steven Reid tries to pick out the run of Shane Long - who is looking busy on his return to the side - but the ball skips through to Asmir Begovic and the keeper is quick to get out and grab the ball.
6' POOR TOUCH
Not the best start to Markus Rosenberg's Premier League career as he attempts a simple pass inside to Shane Long and completely misses his intended target.
4' SCRAPPY START
Unsurprisingly, given that Charlie Adam hoofed it long with his first touch, the game has begun extremely poorly with Stoke getting men behind the ball and smashing the ball forward with every touch.

Only a few games ago it had seemed like Tony Pulis had taken Stoke as far as he could, but since the loss they have taken ten points from their last four games and find themselves in ninth place. A win today would take the Potters to within four points of West Brom.

West Brom have been impressive so far this season, but the punishing December schedule tends to sort out the wheat from the chaff and with that loss against Swansea, Steve Clarke's men need to bounce back immediately if they are to stay in the top-four.
