90' CHELSEA 0 QPR 1
No one would have thought QPR's first away victory in the Premier League since November 2011 would come at Stamford Bridge of all places, but it has. It was indeed a smash and grab, but then what else were the R's going to attempt? The first half saw them defend doggedly against a lethargic Chelsea side, who only created one real opportunity in the opening 45 involving Oscar and Victor Moses despite controlling possession. More chances fell to both sides in the second period, with Branislav Ivanovic threatening with headers, Fernando Torres being kept by the legs of Julio Cesar and Frank Lampard having a goal perhaps cruelly ruled out for offside, while QPR caused initial scares while the game was still goalless through Esteban Granero, Jamie Mackie and Shaun Derry. It was former Chelsea man Shaun Wright-Phillips who broke the deadlock on 77 minutes with a strike arrowed in from the edge of the area, and as they showed they could throughout the game, QPR withstood late pressure to cling on and claim a famous three points.

Frank Lampard has a goal ruled out for offside, but I'm not sure it should have been. He looked onside as he slotted into the bottom corner after Fernando Torres headed the ball across goal, and I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty more about that should Chelsea not find a goal or enough goals to win in this game.

It hasn't exactly been the feisty, action-packed west London derby you might have been looking forward to. Bottom-of-the-table QPR aren't wholly responsible for that either, as Chelsea have been lacklustre and only created one real chance in that first half, coming a few minutes ago when Oscar was denied and Victor Moses fired over on the follow-up. The Blues have still dominated in the possession stakes, and it will be intriguing to see if they will make a breakthrough or if their lack of sharpness will cost them. Credit to QPR who have defended admirably while more predictably offering little in the way of attack.

We haven't seen the zip in Chelsea's passing game that has been on display in their recent positive results, even though they're dominating in the possession stakes. QPR's five-man midfield are doing a job, as Shaun Derry drops deep to cut out a searching ball forward from Victor Moses.

0' PROPPING UP THE TABLE
Where you believe QPR's fate lies come the end of the season depends largely on whether you place your faith in Harry Redknapp's famous magic touch or rely on the reality of depressing statistics. Harry of course worked wonders to keep Portsmouth in the league a few seasons back and also now has a transfer window in which to perform his usual wheeling and dealing, but history presents a more pessimistic vision. West Brom in 2005 are to date the only team to survive the drop after being bottom of the Premier League table at the end of a calendar year, and just three teams have lost more PL matches in that time period than QPR (23 defeats in 2012).
0' GOING RIGHT FOR RAFA
The speculation surrounding Pep Guardiola and his aggressive suitors Chelsea seems to have died down in recent weeks, no doubt in a large part due to the Blues' outstanding current form under Rafael Benitez. Not only has the Spaniard got them winning, but triumphing in a style that few predicted the apparently ‘defensive' tactician would bring. The back line has indeed tightened up, yet further up the field we're seeing the attacking fluidity that you would hope from a Chelsea midfield and front line containing players like Juan Mata, Oscar, Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres, the latter of who's form could even prove to be more than a false dawn that we've witnessed too many of.
