Norwich City vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Minute Commentary
90' FULL-TIME REPORT
With these teams both sporting an FA Cup giant killing hangover, both Norwich City and Tottenham were keen to use this game as their dose of paracetamol. In the end, both had to settle for a limited remedy. The Canaries dominated the first half and deservedly went into half-time a goal to the good after Wes Hoolahan's smart finish. Spurs improved in the second half, particularly after the introduction of new signing Lewis Holtby. But it was a familiar face who scored the equaliser, and in familiar fashion - Gareth Bale embarking on a rapid sprint inside the Norwich half before striking past Mark Bunn. A draw was probably a fair result but both sides will feel harshly done by and the mental scars of last weekend will still be sore.
90' FULL-TIME WHISTLE
Neil Swarbrick blows the final whistle and these two teams will have to share the points. It's finished Norwich City 1 Tottenham Hotspur 1.
90' THREE ADDED MINUTES
There's three minutes of added on time at Carrow Road. Can Norwich City hold on for a point?
90' BUNN STOPS
Great save by Mark Bunn! Gylfi Sigurdsson controls the ball and lets fly from 25 yards but the Norwich goalkeeper gets down well to tip the ball behind for a corner. From the corner kick, Bunn blocks again, this time from a Gareth Bale header.
88' SPURS ON TOP
Tottenham are in the ascendancy and Jermain Defoe sees another shot blocked from inside the Norwich area. Defoe had Assou-Ekotto outside him and maybe should have passed but his striking selfishness has served him well in his career so far. Andre Villas-Boas decides to withdraw Aaron Lennon, bringing on Gylfi Sigurdsson.
85' ASSOU-EKOTTO SWEEPS
Norwich are still committing plenty of men forward and it nearly pays off when Grant Holt looks set to pounce on a ball behind Spurs' back four. Benoit Assou-Ekotto is sweeping up though and clears to touch before Hugo Lloris can gather.
83' DEFOE FLICK
And then Spurs nearly take the lead! Benoit Assou-Ekotto's cross from the left flank finds Jermain Defoe at the near post. Defoe throws his left foot at the ball but only manages to lift the ball over the bar.
82' BALE BRILLIANCE
Vintage Bale. The Welshman picks up the ball on halfway and sprints into the Norwich half. Alexander Tettey has the chance to foul the winger but fails to do so - he may well wish he did. Bale sprints at Sebastien Bassong, who backs off, before striking the ball past Mark Bunn from the edge of the Norwich area. It's a fabulous goal. Chris Hughton makes a substitution straight away, replacing Wes Hoolahan with Jonathan Howson.
80' GOOOAAALLL!!!
What a goal! Gareth Bale equalises for Tottenham!
80' HOLTBY CAUTIONED
Lewis Holtby's first contribution of note though is to go into the book for a tackle on Bradley Johnson - a very harsh decision by Neil Swarbrick.
78' HOLTBY BRIGHT
One positive for Spurs is that Lewis Holtby has looked bright since he's come on. The German has played just off Jermain Defoe and his movement and touch brings back memories of Rafael van der Vaart in a Tottenham shirt. So far though he's not been able to breach this Canaries backline.
76' CANARIES STAY STRONG
Chris Hughton's side are remaining strong at the back despite clearly tiring in this second period. Aaron Lennon runs at Javier Garrido but the Spanish left-back sees him off.
72' HOLTBY ON
Here's Lewis Holtby. Andre Villas-Boas is introducing his new signing in place of Clint Dempsey who has been very disappointing this evening.
70' TOTTENHAM PRESSURE
A clumsy, tired challenge from Robert Snodgrass on Benoit Assou-Ekotto gives Spurs a good chance from a free-kick on the left flank. Kyle Walker's delivery is good but Michael Turner heads the ball over his own bar for a corner.
67' PILKINGTON EFFORT
Norwich aren't as dominant as they were in the opening 45 minutes but they're still creating chances. Anthony Pilkington jinks his way between defenders before striking at goal but his shot goes just off target.
64' DEFOE SLASH
Jermain Defoe has another chance to equalise for Spurs after breaking into the Canaries area but the ball is on his left foot and he lashes it high and wide.
61' HOLT BOOKED
Norwich's Grant Holt becomes the second player of the night to go into the book after hacking down Spurs full back Kyle Walker on the halfway line.
59' BALE INVOLVED
Gareth Bale is becoming more and more involved in this game. After exchanging passes with Scott Parker, he bends a cross towards Jermain Defoe with the outside of his left boot but Sebastien Bassong can head away.
56' PENALTY SHOUT
Norwich have a huge shout for handball after Anthony Pilkington's speculative effort strikes Jan Vertonghen. Referee Neil Swarbrick denies the Canaries a penalty but Pilkington is adamant that he should have had a spot kick.
52' SPURS URGENCY
Tottenham are looking a little more urgent now. Gareth Bale slides in Jermain Defoe but Michael Turner gets a foot in on the striker before Bale fires one goalwards himself from 30 yards. Mark Bunn is down well to save.
49' MARTIN FORWARD
Norwich have started the second half as they finished the first - well on top. Russell Martin gets forward and puts a tempting cross across the six yard area from the corner of the Spurs penalty box. Unfortunately for the hosts, Grant Holt isn't close enough to get on the end of it.
46' BACK UNDERWAY
Both teams are back out on the Carrow Road pitch and we are back underway in this Premier League fixture. Can Tottenham improve on their poor first half performance or will Norwich collect a vital three points to pull themselves away from relegation worries?
45' HALF-TIME REPORT
Both of these sides were keen to bounce back from disappointing FA Cup exits last weekend with a win at Carrow Road this evening but there's only been one team in this game so far. Norwich City have dominated from the start and, in a game of few chances, made their one huge opportunity count. Wes Hoolahan swept the ball past Hugo Lloris after Anthony Pilkington, Grant Holt and Robert Snodgrass had all played their part in the build-up. In a windswept Norfolk, Tottenham's best chance fell to Jermain Defoe but his snapshot was tipped away by Mark Bunn, Apart from that effort, Spurs have been anonymous and may need to introduce new signing Lewis Holtby in a bid to improve their performance.
45' HALF-TIME WHISTLE
The first half comes to a conclusion with Norwich City leading Tottenham Hotspur by a goal to nil.
44' DEFOE CHANCE
Tottenham nearly equalise as Jermain Defoe's persistence sees him running at the Norwich goal. His shot is at a good height for Mark Bunn but the goalkeeper still does well to block his goalbound strike before Michael Turner clears.
42' BALE INJURY
Gareth Bale is down injured for Tottenham and it looks like a dead leg after another rough tackle from Javier Garrido. He gets up to his feet but doesn't look too happy. That could mean an early entrance for Lewis Holtby.
40' COUNTER ATTACK
Norwich could be two ahead after a slick counter attack. Somehow it's right back Russell Martin and defender Sebastien Bassong at the forefront of it as the latter squares the ball across for the Frenchman. Moussa Dembele tracked the ex-Spurs centre back though and he does enough to clear the ball, with an open goal gaping.
38' GARRIDO YELLOW
Gareth Bale sprints down the right wing and is clipped in full flight by Javier Garrido who picks up a deserved yellow card for the cynical challenge.
35' HOOLAHAN FINISH
Robert Snodgrass gets in behind Benoit Assou-Ekotto and puts a right-footed cross into the box. It's not the best ball but Grant Holt keeps it in with his head. Anthony Pilkington controls the knock down and passes to Wes Hoolahan, who strokes the ball past Hugo Lloris to give the Canaries a well-deserved lead.
34' GOOOAAALLL!!!
We have a goal! Wes Hoolahan directs the ball in to put Norwich a goal up!
31' HOLT HEADER
That's the closest we've come to a goal. Tottenham struggle to clear a Norwich cross and Michael Dawson heads the ball straight up in the air. Grant Holt comes in on the dropping ball and heads at goal but Hugo Lloris tips it wide for a corner kick.
30' BALE SHOT
Tottenham's best mini-period of the game sees Gareth Bale drift infield and get a shot away with his left foot. Michael Turner throws himself in front of the ball and gets a vital block in.
28' DEFOE ISOLATED
Over a quarter of the way into this match, Tottenham are yet to test Mark Bunn in the Norwich goal. Jermain Defoe is an isolated figure up front for the visitors and so when he does get some rare possession, there is little support from the likes of Clint Dempsey and Gareth Bale.
26' CANARIES PENALTY SHOUT
Norwich feel they should have a penalty there. Vertonghen is shoulder-to-shoulder with Grant Holt inside the box and the two grapple, with the ball eventually bouncing out for a goal kick. It would have been very harsh to have penalised the Spurs defender there but Holt is livid.
22' HOLT IN BEHIND
For the first time in the game, Norwich get in behind Spurs' defence. Roberto Snodgrass floats a pass over the top of Michael Dawson to find Grant Holt but the ball sits up awkwardly, forcing Holt to hit it first time. His shot is way off target.
19' BASSONG INTERRUPTION
Good build-up play by Tottenham ends in Gareth Bale attempting to slide the ball through to meet an intelligent Clint Dempsey run. Sebastien Bassong has other ideas though and sees off the American with his considerable strength before clearing.
17' SWIRLING WIND
Robert Snodgrass tricks his way past Scott Parker before feeding the ball to Anthony Pilkington. Pilkington puts a floated cross into the box but the swirling wind gets hold of the ball and deceives the advancing Russell Martin who can't control it. The considerable breeze is having a big part in this game so far.
14' OVERHIT CROSS
Gareth Bale is bemused after being penalised for shoving Grant Holt near his own corner flag. It gives Norwich good attacking position but Robert Snodgrass overhits his delivery by some distance, giving Spurs a goal kick.
11' LUCKY LLORIS
Tottenham's Hugo Lloris gets very lucky there. Robert Snodgrass whips in a dangerous delivery from deep and the French goalkeeper comes for it. He decides to punch but the ball skims off his hands and heads towards his own goal. Luckily for Tottenham, Michael Dawson can see off the danger.
9' NORWICH SOLID
Javier Garrido rams into the back of Spurs' Kyle Walker and concedes a free-kick deep inside his own half. Michael Dawson and Jan Vertonghen go forward but the Canaries deal with it well. Gareth Bale heads over from a corner kick soon after.
5' EARLY CANARIES PRESSURE
Norwich City have the first shot of the game when Wes Hoolahan lets fly on the volley from 25 yards out. He can't get a good connection on his shot and the ball veers away from goal and out for a Tottenham goal kick. Soon after, Robert Snodgrass mis-hits a volley from just outside the area and Hugo Lloris gathers.
3' DEFOE BLOCK
Norwich goalkeeper Mark Bunn has his heart in his mouth when Jermain Defoe charges down his kick. The ball goes out for a goal kick though and the Canaries escape without punishment.
1' WE'RE OFF
Referee Neil Swarbrick blows his whistle to begin this Premier League fixture at Carrow Road. Norwich City are in their famous yellow and green colours while Tottenham also wear their home kit of all white.
0' CAMP AND HOLTBY ON BENCH
Mark Bunn retains his place in the Norwich City goal meaning that new signing Lee Camp has to settle for a place on the bench. Sebastien Bassong returns to central defence as expected while Steven Whittaker is named among the Canaries substitutes. Spurs choose to start Lewis Holtby on their substitutes bench but Jermain Defoe is fit enough to take his place as the lone striker. Meanwhile Michael Dawson is preferred to William Gallas at the heart of the Tottenham defence.

0' REF WATCH
Neil Swarbrick takes charge of tonight's fixture. The Lancashire-born official has had nine Premier League assignments so far this season and, despite handing out 29 yellow cards, he is yet to issue a dismissal. He has refereed both Norwich and Tottenham matches once this season - overseeing a 1-0 defeat for the Canaries at Newcastle and a 2-0 home victory for Spurs against Aston Villa.
0' LAST TIME OUT
These two sides last met at Carrow Road in the League Cup back in October when the Canaries scored two late goals to snatch a 2-1 victory. Gareth Bale had put the visitors ahead but Jan Vertonghen diverted the ball into his own goal before Simeon Jackson scored a last-gasp winner. In the reverse league fixture at White Hart Lane, the points were shared in a 1-1 draw, as Norwich against struck late. Moussa Dembele's strike was cancelled out by Robert Snodgrass' 85th minute goal.
0' TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS
Andre Villas-Boas could hand a debut to new signing Lewis Holtby who joined from Schalke this week. Holtby had been due to sign for Spurs on a free transfer in the summer but the deal was brought forward after Tottenham decided to pay Schalke a fee. With Emmanuel Adebayor still away on African Cup of Nations duty, the club's only available senior striker, Jermain Defoe, will return after missing the weekend FA Cup defeat, as will William Gallas who has recovered from a calf injury. Long-term absentees Younes Kaboul and Sandro remain unavailable and Tom Huddlestone will also miss out.
0' NORWICH TEAM NEWS
Ex-Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong will be welcomed back into the heart of the Norwich defence after recovering from a calf injury. Behind him, new signing Lee Camp will be hoping to take his place between the goalposts but Mark Bunn will be keen to hold onto his status as current first choice goalkeeper with John Ruddy still out. Forward Harry Kane, on loan from Spurs, is ineligible while Steve Morison will be unavailable due to a thigh injury. Full-back Steven Whittaker is available for selection again though and his return should be a boost to the Canaries' leaky defence.
0' MATCH PREVIEW
Both Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur will still be hurting from being unceremoniously dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of lesser opposition at the weekend. An under-strength Spurs were well-beaten by Leeds United but it was the Canaries who were truly humiliated - suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to non-league Luton Town. Chris Hughton's men can now focus solely on the Premier League where their form has hit a stumbling block - they are without a win in six league matches and now sit just six points above the drop zone. Tottenham, on the other hand, are unbeaten in eight top flight games and remain on course to seal Champions League qualification. If both teams can achieve their respective targets this season, disappointing cup defeats can be forgotten about.
