Minute Commentary
90' FULL TIME
A quiet game at the Britannia Stadium came to life in the second half, as Stoke City registered their first league win of 2013 with a welcome victory against a resurgent Reading. The hosts had the better of the first half, but could not find the breakthrough with Adam Federici denying Peter Crouch from close range. The deadlock was finally broken and it was Robert Huth rising above the Reading defence to head in a corner. Cameron Jerome looked to have secured a comfortable victory, as he capitalised on an Adrian Mariappa mistake to slot the ball past Federici. The visitors hadn't given up and Mariappa grabbed one back from a corner of their own. Stoke resolutely held on and Tony Pulis will be delighted at having taken all three points. Reading will feel they didn't do enough in the first hour to test the hosts, and will look to bounce back next time out.
90' FINAL WHISTLE
The final whistle goes and Stoke City have held on for their first win in seven games. Goals from Huth and Jerome looked to have secure the points, but an Adrian Mariappa goal made it a nervy final five minutes. It's finished Stoke 2-1 Reading.
90' ADDED TIME
Four added minutes for Reading to find an equalising goal. Jimmy Kebe is fouled by Ryan Shawcross and the visitors send everyone into the penalty area. Ian Harte gets the free kick horribly wrong and the ball goes out for a goal kick.
89' HANGING ON
Reading are throwing everything forward in the final stages. The ball falls to Alex Pearce on the edge of the penalty area, but his shot drifts wide and Begovic can take his time over a goal kick.

Geoff Cameron replaces Andy Wilkinson, as Stoke look to see the game out.

Reading are back in business. Ian Harte plays a corner into the penalty area and ADRIAN MARIAPPA rises above Shotton to head past Asmir Begovic. There's a sense of nervousness in the stadium now and it's Stoke City 2-1 Reading.

Stoke have grabbed the second goal and it's CAMERON JEROME with what could be the crucial decider. Adrian Mariappa fails to clear a cross and Jerome blasts a shot past Adam Federici. It's Stoke City 2-0 Reading.

Stoke are continuing to look for a second goal, and will be wary of the visitors ability to find late goals in their recent five games. They do suffer a scare, as Jimmy Kebe looks to play in Pavel Pogrebnyak but the cross is overhit.

A rare chance for the visitors. Stoke fail to clear a free kick and Alex Pearce plays in Adam Le Fondre. The striker can't reach the ball and Asmir Begovic clears. Garath McCleary is also on for Jobi McAnuff.

The hosts have been lifted by the opening goal and almost grab a second. Kenwyne Jones plays in Matthew Etherington, but he can't place his shot on target and it goes over the bar.

Stoke finally take the lead through ROBERT HUTH. A corner from Jerome is powerfully met by the defender and he wastes no time in heading the ball past Adam Federici. Tony Pulis is delighted and it's Stoke 1-0 Reading.

Michael Kightly and Peter Crouch are the players to make way for Jones and Jerome.

Tony Pulis has had enough. Kenwyne Jones and Cameron Jerome are both warming up on the touchline as Stoke continue to press forward, but with little penetration.

Glenn Whelan plays a corner into the penalty are and Robert Huth rises above Pearce. Unfortunately he can't guide his header towards goal and the visitors again clear.

The home fans are trying to urge their side to push forward, but there's groans as Andy Wilkinson plays the ball straight out of play. Tony Pulis is shouting instructions from his technical area, but Reading continue to hold firm.

The hosts have continued to press forward in the early stages of the half. Andy Wilkinson brings the ball forward and picks out Peter Crouch. His header is comfortably saved by Adam Federici and Reading can look to counter.

Reading get the second half underway, with both sides hoping to grab three vital points with a win this afternoon.

Michael Oliver blows his whistle for half time. Stoke have had the majority of the chances and Tony Pulis will be wondering how his side haven't taken the lead, with Adam Federici denying both Crouch and Robert Huth. Reading will be content with the scoreline, knowing that the majority of their goals have come in the second half. It's Stoke 0-0 Reading.

One added minute announced by the fourth official.
41' STRUGGLING
Reading are hanging on as we approach half time. Matthew Etherington whips in a corner, but the visitors can only clear it behind for another one. This time the winger picks out Robert Huth, and the defender blasts a shot towards goal. Adam Federici launches himself across goal to deny him and the visitors finally clear upfield.
40' STOKE CHANCE
The hosts continue to press. Matthew Etherington picks out Crouch in the penalty area, but the striker blasts his cross over the bar.
36' SIEGE
The hosts are crossing into the penalty area at every opportunity and almost take the lead. Michael Kightly's ball is intercepted by Ian Harte, but Stoke win the ball back immediately and Reading are forced back on the defensive.
31' UNDER PRESSURE
The visitors are struggling to get out of their own half. Ryan Shotton is pushing forward at every opportunity and this time he crosses towards Walters. The striker turns and shoots, but Adam Federici is equal to it and parries the ball clear.
27' GREAT CATCH
Another dangerous cross is played in by Matthew Etherington and Michael Kightly's first time shot is cleared by Harte. Again the ball is launched into the penalty area, but this time Adam Federici races off his line and calmly erases the danger.
24' HANDBALL APPEALS
Michael Kightly sees a shot blocked by Adrian Mariappa. There are cries for a handball by the fans behind the Reading goal, but Michael Oliver waves play on and the visitors clear.
20' TAKING CONTROL
The hosts continue to look the most threatening side, but Reading have begun to keep possession and are looking to create a chance of their own. A throw from Kelly almost finds Pavel Pogrebnyak, but Robert Huth marshalls the ball out for a goal kick.
15' ALMOST
Best chance of the game falls to Stoke. Matthew Etherington again plays a delightful cross into the penalty area, and Crouch knocks it down. Fortunately for the visitors, Walters can't get to the ball before Pearce and the chance is gone.
13' SCRAPPY
There's very little flow to the game so far, but Reading are beginning to press forward. Stephen Kelly crosses to Ian Harte, but he can't control the ball and it goes behind for a goal kick.
8' QUIET START
Neither side are looking to press forward with much urgency in the early stages. Etherington plays the ball to Peter Crouch, but his header is poor and drifts out of play. The Stoke fans are fully behind their side, and will be hoping for a quicker tempo from their team.

First chance for Stoke. A corner is whipped in by Matthew Etherington, but neither Crouch or Huth can get a touch to the ball and Reading clear.

Brian McDermott also makes one change. Garath McCleary makes way for Nick Blackman, who makes his debut for the visitors. This does mean that player of the month Adam Le Fondre continues to warm the bench.

Michael Kightly returns to the side replacing Geoff Cameron, with the American international having played for his country in the week. There are no other changes from Tony Pulis, as Peter Crouch and Jonathan Walters continue up front.
0' ONES TO WATCH
Stoke CityThe visitors have still been conceding goals despite their recent form, and Tony Pulis will be looking for Peter Crouch to test their defence. The striker was again overlooked by Roy Hodgson for the England friendly, and he will feel he has something to prove this afternoon. The Stoke defence will have to watch out for Adam Le Fondre, who won the player of the month award without starting a game. Le Fondre has grabbed five goals in four games, all off the bench.
0' NEVER GIVE UP
Brian McDermott will have been delighted at the his side have turned things round since the new year. The visitors looked destined for the drop with 10 minutes to go against West Brom, but three goals turned a 0-2 deficit into a 3-2 victory. It's been a story of late goals, with a monumental 41% of their strikes coming in the last 15 minutes of games.
0' TURNING IT ROUND
Tony Pulis was full of praise for his sides defending in the autumn, but the poor run of form since the new year has led to criticism. A win against Reading would go some way to improving the mood amongst the home fans. A fast start could get the crowd on side and 25% of their goals have come in the first 15 minutes of games. However they also have the least amount of shots on target with 75, and the manager will be wanting an immediate improvement to that statistic.

Michael Oliver makes his second appearance at the Britannia Stadium this season. The hosts won that game against Fulham, and will be hoping for similar today.

Two teams in contrasting form meet at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke City have failed to win in their last six Premier League games, whilst the visitors have only lost one in seven since christmas. This run has seen Reading climb out of the relegation zone, and they will be hoping for only their second away win this afternoon. The hosts will be looking to stop their slide with a win in front of their own fans, but 16 goals conceded in the six games since their win against Liverpool will be a concern for Tony Pulis.
