Liverpool vs. Swansea City
Minute Commentary
90' FULL TIME REPORT
Liverpool taught Swansea a lesson in football today as they destroyed them 5-0 at Anfield. Steven Gerrard opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 35 minutes when Luis Suarez was brought down. Half time came and Swansea were lucky to be only one down. However, a goal rush in the second half saw the game put beyond reach. Sixteen seconds into the second half Philippe Coutinho doubled the lead before a fantastic team move was finished by Jose Enrique. Suarez got the goal he deserved before another penalty was smashed home by Daniel Sturridge. The visitors offered very little - Jonathan De Guzman looked like their only spark in a weakened side. Full time and it's Liverpool 5-0 Swansea.
90' FULL TIME
Howard Webb ends the game and Liverpool take the points.
89' SLOWED TEMPO
The hosts are content with seeing the game out now at 5-0. They're just passing about in triangles enticing the Swansea players towards them.
86' TEN MEN
Liverpool are down to ten men, but it's because Fabio Borini has injured himself. A nasty looking shoulder injury ends his game just ten minutes after coming on. Liverpool have already made their three substitutions.
84' FIRST REAL SAVE
Reina is finally tested with only six minutes of the game left. Wayne Routledge cuts in and curls the ball but the Spaniard is equal to the effort.
82' VERY CLOSE
Fabio Borini gets a little lucky with a deflection down by the byline, but he carries on forward and slips the ball into Glen Johnson, who powers a left-footed shot inches wide of Michel Vorm's post.
78' STANDING OVATION
Luis Suarez is taken off and the Liverpool fans stand up and applaud him, and rightly so - he has been outstanding today. Fabio Borini comes on for him.
76' SUBSTITUTION
Pablo Hernandez leaves the pitch and on comes Nathan Dyer.
75' COMFORTABLE
That's when you know you're comfortable - when your fans start cheering every pass. Liverpool in total control and will be leapfrogging Swansea.
73' VERY CLOSE
Daniel Sturridge is a man on fire. He comes extremely close to putting the home side 6-0 up after his curling effort pings off of the bar.
72' SUBSTITUTION
With just under 20 minutes reminaing, Joe Allen gets a run out against his former club.
71' GOOOAAALLL!!!
Howard Webb awards another penalty to Liverpool after a Routledge handball, and DANIEL STURRIDGE converts easily. High fives all around at Anfield.
68' GOOD VISION
Liverpool look for more, and Luis Suarez's good vision enables him to pick out Stewart Downing at the far post, but the winger can't jump high enough to nod it towards goal.
67' GREAT STRENGTH
Jonathan De Guzman barges his way through Liverpool's defence, but Jamie Carragher gets back well and stops him from creating a clear-cut chance.
63' NEARLY FIVE
Michel Vorm is off his line quickly to deny Daniel Sturridge from making it 5-0. Luis Suarez's second effort is blocked by a man in white. Meanwhile Roland Lamah is replaced by Wayne Routledge.
61' SUBSTITUTION
Philippe Coutinho, who has been excellent today, goes off to be replaced by Jordan Henderson. The ex-Sunderland man seems to have found his old form that earned him his big money move to Anfield.
60' PENALTY SHOUT
The home fans shout for a penalty as Daniel Sturridge falls to the floor. The referee is perfectly placed to comment on the situation and he waves away the claims.
56' GOOOAAALLL!!!
LUIS SUAREZ makes it 4-0. A sensational run and finish matches his sensational performance today. You always knew if Liverpool scored a handful, the little Uruguayan would've got one of them.
54' CORNER
Patient work from Luis Suarez wins him a corner. He's been excellent again, as always. The delivered corner is easily headed away by Swansea.
50' GOOOAAALLL!!!
Game over now, Liverpool make it three and it's JOSE ENRIQUE who finishes off a magnificent move to toe poke the ball into the roof of the net.
47' COME ALIVE
The boy's in the mood for it today. Philippe Coutinho gets into a lovely position 12 yards out but can't finish Luis Suarez's cutback.
46' GOOOAAALLL!!!
I've barely had time to say the second half has started, and it's 2-0! PHILIPPE COUTINHO makes it two with a great run and finish.
45' HALF TIME REPORT
Liverpool went in at half time 1-0 up, a scoreline which flattered Swansea. The Reds came close within the first few minutes through Philippe Coutinho. Swansea's only real chance came on nine minutes after the ball dropped nicely for on-loan Osasuna forward Roland Lamah. Liverpool then dominated from then on and after missing two excellent chances, got their goal via a Steven Gerrard penalty after Luis Suarez had been brought down. Daniel Sturridge then missed two brilliant chances to put his side further ahead. Half time and the hosts lead.
45' HALF TIME
Howard Webb blows his whistle and the first half is over.
45' CHANCE
Jonathan De Guzman sends the ball into the box and Garry Monk is unmarked as he jumps up for the header. He doesn't make clear contact and Liverpool get rid.
42' RARE SHOT
Nice to see Pepe Reina hasn't fallen asleep. Jonathan De Guzman shoots from the edge of the area but there's no venom in the shot and the Spaniard collects the ball with ease.
39' NEARLY MOMENTS
Liverpool want another and they're playing brilliantly. Four times now they've come close within two minutes. Stewart Downing first and then Agger's run aset up Coutinho whose shot was blocked. Then Kyle Bartley cleared off the line before Daniel Sturridge tried to fire home from the most acute of angles.
36' PINBALL
Luis Suarez bends the ball into the box with the outside of his boot. It's heading for Daniel Sturridge at the far post but Michel Vorm punches clear. The ball is then smashed in by Glen Johnson and bounces about a few times before Swansea can clear.
35' GOOOAAALLL!!!
Liverpool take the lead and it's Captain Fantastic, STEVEN GERRARD who calmly converts the spot kick. Michel Vorm guessed right but the ball was put right in the bottom corner.
33' PENALTY
Luis Suarez is brought down by Kemy Agustien and Howard Webb awards a penalty after a long hard think.
31' OFFERING NOTHING
After the half-chance for Roland Lamah early on, the Swans have provided nothing going forward. They'll have to up their game if they're to get on the scoresheet.
28' STORY OF THEIR SEASON
Liverpool have failed to taken their opportunities this season and it's no different today. Swansea - who have the best defence away from home - aren't playing like they hold that record, but the home side can't put their chances away.
25' ANOTHER BRILLIANT CHANCE
This time it's Brazillian Philippe Coutinho who has gone red in the face. Daniel Sturridge jinks in betweem players in the penalty area and gets brought down by Kyle Bartley. The referee waves it away and the ball rolls to Philippe Coutinho who fails to convert with most of the goal gaping.
23' SHOULD SCORE
Daniel Sturridge has just missed a glorious chance to put Liverpool one up. A brave run from Stewart Downing allows him to play in a whipped ball and from six yards, Sturridge should score.
22' GOOD RUN
Pablo Hernandez leaves Lucas Leiva for dead down the right-hand flank and makes his way into the box before playing the ball into the mix. Fortunately for Liverpool Jamie Carragher clears.
18' GOOD POSITION
Dwight Tiendalli hauls down Luis Suarez and the home team have a free kick 25 yards from goal. The striker takes it himself and aims for the top left corner, but can't quite direct it there.
16' JUST OVER
Steven Gerrard takes a free kick and hammers it into the wall. The ball rebounds back to Luis Suarez but the Uruguayan fires over from the edge of the box.
12' COMING FORWARD
Here's something you don't hear very often - Stewart Downing is playing rather well. The winger has tried his luck several times now, coming close. His deliveries into the box have been pretty accurate too. His latest causes Dwight Tiendalli to head out for a corner.
9' SHOULD DO BETTER
A corner comes in from Jonathan De Guzman and finds its way to Roland Lamah. However, the striker scuffs his shot when unmarked - he should be getting a good connection there with the time he had.
8' SLOPPY
Leon Britton plays a long ball down field but puts too much power on it and it bounces out. That's a couple of times he's put an inaccurate ball out of reach of a Swansea frontman.
6' EASY SAVE
Luis Suarez - who hasn't scored in his previous three - gets into a decent position before rifling the ball towards Michel Vorm, but the Dutchman has no problem and saves comfortably.
5' HESITANT
The visitors look a bit nervous on the ball. A couple of times now the Swansea defence has dawdled and then panicked when closed down. Liverpool are on top.
2' EARLY SHOT
Philippe Coutinho receives a short corner from Steven Gerrard and fires the ball towards goal, but it's deflected away from danger.
1' UNDERWAY
The game is up and running.

0' PREVIEW
This weekend's only Premier League fixture sees Brendan Rogers' Liverpool side host his old club Swansea. Usually you'd expect a club like Liverpool to still be in the FA Cup at this point, but their poor showing at Oldham means they failed to reach the fifth round. Swansea bowed out to Arsenal in the third round.
0' LEAPFROG
Today's hosts have the opportunity to jump their opponents into 7th if they can grab a win today. They lost 2-0 last time out at home but before that had been in fine form, winning five of their last six at Anfield. Rogers will be expected to make a few changes from the side that lost in Russia on Thursday.
0' PUSH FOR EUROPE
The Swans will be looking to close the gap on Everton to two points as they try to push up the table, Michael Laudrup may have one eye on next weekend's League Cup final with Bradford though. Whichever way the Swans try to get into Europe, if they make it, it will be their first time in Europe since 1991.
0' HEAD TO HEAD
Liverpool have failed to score in the previous three Premier League meetings between these two. They did grab a goal when these two played in October – Liverpool lost 3-1 at Anfield in the League Cup. The last Liverpool victory was 20 years ago when they triumphed 3-0 in the old Division One.
0' REFEREE
Howard Webb takes charge of today's meeting. The South Yorkshire official will be overseeing his 30th game of the season in what is his tenth anniversary of becoming a Premier League-listed referee. He's not afraid to show the cards neither, having issued 104 cards so far this season.
