Minute Commentary
90' REDS RETURN TO SUMMIT
Former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey turned from hero to villain to hero again as he helped Swansea hold the Merseysiders to a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night. He opened the scoring against the Reds - just three months after leaving them, slotting home his right-foot effort into the far corner after he followed up his own mishit shot on the edge of the box. However, just a minute later, his poor backpass was seized upon by Daniel Sturridge and the striker lashed home his fourth goal in as many Premier League matches. The last Pool player to score in the first four league matches of a season was John Aldridge, who netted against Arsenal, Coventry, West Ham and Oxford United to open up the 1987-88 season. And Shelvey was also involved in the visitors' second goal of the game too. His poor pass out of defence was collected on the halfway line by Victor Moses and Daniel Sturridge's run on the outside allowed the Chelsea loanee to cut inside before lashing his shot past Michel Vorm at his near post. It was just his second top flight goal in his last 27 matches. His last goal came funnily enough against Swansea last November. Michael Laudrup's side restored parity in the second half and it was the all-action Shelvey who was involved again as his delicate flick was fired into the back of the net from last season's leading scorer for Swansea - Michu, for his first goal of this campaign. The point lifted Brendan Rodgers' side back on top of the Premier League with 10 points from four games. The Swans, meanwhile, jump out of the relegation zone and up to 13th.
90' FULL-TIME
The points are shared at the Liberty Stadium after an enthralling 2-2 draw between Swansea and Liverpool.
90' NERVY DEFENDING
Anywhere will do for Liverpool at the moment as Raheem Sterling just knocks the ball out and then Mamadou Sakho throws himself at it to deny Michu from scoring the winner.
90' STOPPAGE TIME
There will be FIVE added minutes of stoppage time at the Liberty Stadium and it's unbeaten Liverpool who are hanging on for a point.
89' GREAT SAVE
Jonathan De Guzman's curler gets over the wall, but goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is at full stretch to palm the ball way.
87' POOR CHALLENGE
Wayne Routledge gets to the byline before winning his side their second corner of the game. However, Jonathan De Guzman's ball in is cleared and then Raheem Sterling brings down Angel Rangel in a dangerous area.
85' GOOD CHANCE
Jonathan De Guzman puts his laces through the ball from just outside the area, but he fails to keep it down and Liverpool are off the hook.
83' AMBITIOUS FREE-KICK
Raheem Sterling is tripped as he looks to make an immediate impact. The resulting free-kick is fired wide of the near post from skipper Steven Gerrard.
81' STERLING ON
The pacey Raheem Sterling makes his entrance in place of Victor Moses, who has run out of steam this half.
79' CITY PRESSING
Kolo Toure has nowhere to go and sends the ball straight out for a Swansea throw. Moments later, Victor Moses is felled.
77' WIDE BY MICHU
A defensive header falls kindly into the path of Michu, but he fails to make a firm connection on the ball and it drifts wide of the far post.
75' SWANS CONTROL
The home team are dominating possession 60-40 and are looking the side most likely to score the next goal.
74' WELL HELD
Swansea win a free-kick in a dangerous area but Jonjo Shelvey's deflected strike is well held by Simon Mignolet.
71' ANOTHER LIVERPOOL CHANGE
Kolo Toure comes on for Andre Wisdom, who was booked just moments ago. Brendan Rodgers doesn't want to be taking any chances at the back.
69' SWANS CHANGE
Former Real Betis man Alex Pozuelo comes on for the injured striker Wilfried Bony.
67' WISDOM IN THE BOOK
Andre Wisdom is next to be shown a yellow card by referee Michael Oliver for a poor challenge.
64' SWANS RESTORE PARITY
Jonjo Shelvey's delicate flick on is fired into the back of the net from last season's leading scorer for Swansea - Michu. That's his first goal of this campaign! Game on at the Liberty Stadium.
64' GOOOAAALLL!!!
MICHU
63' HENDERSON BOOKED
It's been a busy second half for referee Michael Oliver, who shows Jordan Henderson the latest yellow card for bringing down Ben Davies.
62' POOR CROSS
Mamadou Sakho's clearance falls to Iago Aspas, but he fails to pick out an unmarked Daniel Sturridge, who was waiting for the cross in the six-yard box.
60' FINE GOALKEEPING
Simon Mignolet clatters into Wilfried Bony as the Reds shot-stopper comes off his line to punch the ball clear. Nothing wrong with that, but the 24-year-old Ivorian is now in need of some medical attention.
58' DOUBLE BOOKING
Now referee Michael Oliver has booked Jonjo Shelvey and Lucas Leiva after Swansea failed to return the ball to the visitors. Things were really getting heated!
56' INJURED COUTINHO REPLACED
An injured Philippe Coutinho is replaced by Iago Aspas. He went off with what looked like a shoulder problem.
55' REDS GO CLOSE
It's been a lively start to the second half and Steven Gerrard's free-kick into the box finds an unmarked Jordan Henderson who puts the ball into the mix, but Mamadou Sakho's effort is held by Michel Vorm.
54' DANGEROUS BALL
Steven Gerrard's free-kick is a good one and Chico Flores does well to head the ball away for a corner to the visitors. The Reds now win another free-kick in a similar area.
52' WILLIAMS IN THE BOOK
Ashley Williams is the first player to go into referee Michael Oliver's book after a rather cynical challenge on Philippe Coutinho.
51' BLOOD AND THUNDER TACKLE
Rather surprisingly, Jonjo Shelvey has remained on the field, despite his first-half misdemeanors. He comes together with Steven Gerrard in a real blood and thunder challenge.
49' BACK-TO-BACK SWANS
Swansea are looking for their first back-to-back Premier League wins since November-December 2012. Since those back-to-back victories they've won just five times in 26 top flight contests.
47' DE GUZMAN IS ON
Jonathan De Guzman has replaced Nathan Dyer for the start of the second half in what is a tactical change for Michael Laudrup.
46' HERE WE GO AGAIN
Liverpool will go back to the top of the Premier League table tonight as things stand. The Merseysiders are also looking to make it four wins out of four.
45' IT'S ALL ABOUT SHELVEY
The first-half at the Liberty Stadium was all about the former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey. He opened the scoring against his former club - just three months after leaving them, slotting home his right-foot effort into the far corner after he followed up his own mishit shot on the edge of the box. However, just a minute later, his poor backpass was seized upon by Daniel Sturridge and the striker lashed home his fourth goal in as many Premier League matches. The last Reds player to score in the first four league matches of a season was John Aldridge, who netted against Arsenal, Coventry, West Ham and Oxford United to open up the 1987-88 season. And Shelvey was also involved in the visitors' second goal of the game too. His poor pass out of defence was collected on the halfway line by Victor Moses and Daniel Sturridge's run on the outside allowed the Chelsea loanee to cut inside before firing past Michel Vorm at his near post. It was just his second top flight goal in his last 27 matches. His last goal came funnily enough against Swansea last November.
45' HALF-TIME
Liverpool lead Swansea 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge and Victor Moses after Jonjo Shelvey had opened the scoring for the hosts.
43' GOOD BLOCK
Michu's effort is blocked and the ball pops out to Angel Rangel out wide. He drives the ball back into the box, but nobody is on hand to tuck it away at the back post. Nice idea though!
40' WHAT A TACKLE
Simon Mignolet palms the ball out from a low cross-shot, and just as Wilfried Bony is about to tap the ball into an empty net, Martin Skrtel makes a fabulous challenge to deny the striker a certain goal.
37' MOSES DOES IT
What was I just saying? Victor Moses has now scored two goals in his last 27 Premier League matches! But it was Jonjo Shelvey who gave the ball away again. His pass was collected on the halfway line by the Chelsea loanee and Daniel Sturridge's run on the outside allowed him to cut inside and fire past Michel Vorm at his near post.
37' GOOOAAALLL!!!
VICTOR MOSES
36' MOSES THREAT
Victor Moses, who is on loan from Chelsea, has looked a real danger in attack. But he has scored just one goal in his last 26 Premier League matches. That came against Swansea in November 2012.
34' FAST AND FLOWING
The action is non-stop as both sides play their passing game on what is a greasy surface. Wilfried Bony takes the ball on the half-volley, but he fails to get any direction on it.
31' SLICK COMBINATION
Michu and Wilfried Bony combine brilliantly on the edge of the box before the latter sees his low sidefooter held by the impressive Simon Mignolet.
30' ALMOST A CALAMITY
Jose Enrique's ball inside his marker very nearly finds Daniel Sturridge after Michel Vorm comes surging out of his area. But, Chico Flores is calm and alert to reach the ball first before bringing it out.
27' GREAT CHANCE
Fantastic play by Victor Moses who tricks his way past Angel Rangel and Chico Flores down the left before his deft cross is headed towards goal by Daniel Sturridge. However, Michel Vorm is alert to make the point-blank save and Swansea are off the hook.
25' WELL BLOCKED
Jordan Henderson decides to have a go with a low powerful drive, but Swansea have enough defenders back to make the all-important block.
23' EXCELLENT READING
The game has settled and Swansea are looking as much of a threat as Liverpool. Jonjo Shelvey looks to release Wilfried Bony, but Mamadou Sakho does well to cut the pass out.
21' CURLING WIDE
Looks like Jonjo Shelvey has cleared his head because he picks up the ball in space just outside the box before lashing his curler beyond the far post. The visiting fans enjoyed that!
18' POOL GOING FOR FOUR
Liverpool have won their first three matches of a league season for the first time since 1994. They last opened a season with four straight wins in 1990 when they won their opening eight contests and 12 of their first 13.
16' JUST OVER
At the other end Steven Gerrard finds Daniel Sturridge with a wonderful pass, which cuts the Swans' backline apart, but the 24-year-old fires over from a tight angle.
13' GOOD EFFORT
Wilfried Bony stings the palms of Simon Mignolet from distance as Jonjo Shelvey wanders around the middle of the park wondering what if!
10' REDS DOMINANT
Since the dramatic opening to the game, Swansea have been chasing shadows with the visitors dominating possession.
8' STURRIDGE ON FIRE
England striker Sturridge has now hit 17 goals in 21 matches since the Reds bought him from Chelsea for £12 million in January. The 24-year-old's goals have fired Liverpool to three wins from their first three matches and earned him the Player of the Month award for August.
4' FROM HERO TO VILLAIN
What a start at the Liberty Stadium! And what a start for former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey. He turns the ball back towards his own goal, but fails to spot Daniel Sturridge lurking on the edge of the box. He takes full advantage by firing home his fourth goal in as many matches for the Reds.
4' GOOOAAALLL!!!
DANIEL STURRIDGE
3' SHELVEY STUNS REDS
Jonjo Shelvey scores against his former club - just three months after leaving them His mis-hit shot from the edge of the box causes all sorts of defensive problems for the visitors and the midfielder is quickest to turn and fire his right-foot shot into the far corner.
3' GOOOAAALLL!!!
JONJO SHELVEY
2' SAME SYSTEMS
Brendan Rodgers received a warm welcome from his former employees on his way out. The hosts have set-up with a familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, but it's very attacking in terms of personnel on the pitch. while Liverpool have gone with an identical system with Daniel Sturridge up top on his own. It's going to be interesting to see how new signings Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses settle in.
1' WE'RE UNDERWAY
Here we go at a packed Liberty Stadium then. Swansea are wearing their white kit with black stripes while Liverpool are in their traditional red shirts, shorts and socks. No need for away kits tonight! The pitch is in wonderful condition here for both sides to play their fast flowing football on, while the atmosphere is simply crackling with excitement.
0' SWANSEA TEAM NEWS
Pablo Hernandez misses out with a slight hamstring problem so Leon Britton partners the former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey in midfield. The fit-again Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge start down the wings and Michu partners Wilfred Bony up front. Jose Canas has to make do with a place on the bench after taking a knock to his ankle. New signing Alvaro Vazquez also takes his place amongst the substitutes.
0' LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS
In-form striker Daniel Sturridge, who missed England's two World Cup qualifying matches with a thigh injury, is fit to start. New summer signings Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses also make the line-up. Sakho, the £18 million signing from PSG replaces the injured Daniel Agger and will partner Martin Skrtel in central defence. Glen Johnson (ankle) also misses out through injury, so England U21 skipper Andre Wisdom takes his place at right-back. Kolo Toure has overcome a groin problem and is amongst the substitutes.
0' SWANSEA TEAM

0' MATCH PREVIEW
The Monday night football sees red-hot Liverpool aiming to climb back to the top of the table when they take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. Brendan Rodgers' side have started the season like the proverbial house on fire and should have striker Daniel Sturridge - August's player of the month - back in the starting line-up. He has scored in the Reds' first three Premier League games to help them top the embryonic table. The Merseysiders will be looking to do something which they have never done before and win the first four games of a Premier League campaign. Meanwhile, the Swans' progress in Europe has been punctuated by two early losses in the league. Michael Laudrup's side did secure their first win of the campaign at West Brom last time out though. And, with a mouthwatering trip to face Spanish giants Valencia in the Europa League coming up on Thursday, they will be aiming to end the visitors' 100 per cent winning start to the season.
0' LAUDRUP PLEASED WITH SHELVEY
Tonight's game will see Swans midfielder Jonjo Shelvey face his former team-mates for the first time since his £5million move from Anfield during the summer. The former Charlton man has made a promising start to life in south Wales and boss Laudrup knows the game will have an extra significance for his new signing. The Dane said: "He has had a very good impact and he has done well. From the first moment he has had a good attitude, but this is just the start, he is still young, he is a big talent and British. It's an important game for him, against his former club, and it will not be a game like all the rest for him, it will be a bit special. But once he is a few minutes in he will settle down and it will become like another game but Liverpool is a part of his life as well. I was surprised they were willing to sell him to us, but it is to our benefit."
0' EARLY SWANSEA TEAM NEWS
Swans boss Laudrup has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from. Full-back Neil Taylor is the only definite absentee as the Wales international remains on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Deadline-day signing Alvaro Vazquez could be handed the chance to make his debut in attack, while midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has overcome the thigh problem that kept him out of England Under-21 action. Winger Nathan Dyer (hamstring) faces a late fitness test.
0' RODGERS IMPRESSED WITH STURRIDGE
Having a fit again Sturridge leading the line at the Liberty Stadium will be a major boost for Reds boss Rodgers. The player has scored the winner in each of Liverpool's three league games this season, as well as grabbing two in the Capital One Cup win over Notts County. And Rodgers has been impressed with the player since his move to Anfield. "You never know how it is going to go but I felt if you gave him an opportunity....I think he has shown in his career if he is given the opportunity he is a natural goalscorer," he said. "At this stage of his career, aged 24, he has all the things to his game to be a top striker. Since coming here he has had the confidence he is going to play and we work on him on a daily basis - on and off the field - to make him the best he can be. It is also a credit to him because he has committed himself to the challenges of playing as one of the leading strikers at one of the biggest clubs in the world, which isn't easy. To get a return of 16 goals in 20 games is what you have to do as a striker."
0' EARLY LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS
In-form Liverpool striker Sturridge is likely be fit to face the Swans despite missing two England matches with a thigh problem. New signings Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses are set for their first involvement in the squad after signing late in the transfer window. Joe Allen (hamstring) and Kolo Toure (groin) could also miss out, while Aly Cissokho and Glen Johnson (both ankle) and Sebastian Coates (knee) are all definitely out.
0' MATCH OFFICIALS
The referee in the middle for this encounter is Michael Oliver. This season he has been in charge of two games and shown six yellow cards. His assistants running the line tonight will be Simon Long and Peter Kirkup, while the fourth official is Roger East.
