Fulham manager Jol says Grygera will retire

LONDON (AP) Fulham manager Martin Jol says Zdenek Grygera, who is training with the Premier League club, has decided to retire from football because of a series of injuries.

Grygera made seven appearances for Fulham last season before being released, but had been training at the club in the hope of earning a contract.

Jol says "Grygera told me that he will quit. ... He is retiring as it is now as he first wants to be healthy, sound and get back to his fitness because he has a few problems with his hip and his knee."

Jol says Grygera could play again when his fitness returns.
