Werder captain Fritz out 6 weeks with groin injury
European Football Headlines
BREMEN, Germany (AP) Werder Bremen captain Clemens Fritz will be out for about six weeks with a groin injury.
The Bundesliga club says the 31-year-old defender broke off training after feeling pain while practicing crosses. The injury was diagnosed Wednesday.
Werder has seven points after seven matches and is 12th in the Bundesliga. Fritz's injury could further weaken an already shaky defense that has conceded 13 goals, among the worst in the league.
