McInerney's header lifts Union over Revolution 1-0 European Football Headlines
CHESTER, Pa. (AP) Jack McInerney converted a header off a free kick in the 73rd minute, lifting the Philadelphia Union past the New England Revolution 1-0 on Saturday night. Following a foul on teammate Michael Farfan, Keon Daniel took the free kick from 20 yards out and sent a clear pass to McInerney, who scored his team-leading seventh goal. It was also the third consecutive game that he scored. The Union improved to 10-15-6 and have never lost to the Revolution in seven career meetings (4-0-3). Philadelphia won for the third time in its last four matches, but remains in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The struggling Revolution (7-17-8) are winless in their last four with an 0-3-1 mark. New England, which sits in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, dropped to 1-13-2 on the road this season.
