Olympiakos beats Asteras 1-0, keeps perfect record

ATHENS, Greece (AP) Jose Holebas scored in the 43rd minute to give Olympiakos a hard-fought 1-0 victory over visiting Asteras and keep the team's perfect record in the Greek league intact.

Holebas smashed in a long-range shot after receiving a short pass from Ariel Ibagaza's free kick. Both Holebas and Ibagaza had to leave the game through injury early in the second half.

Asteras, which chased the equalizer until the end, saw a header by Christos Kalantzis hit Roy Carroll's post in the 82nd. Olympiakos' fans loudly booed their team in the final minutes and at the end of the game.

Still, Olympiakos leads the Greek league with a perfect record of six wins to stay three points ahead of Panionios, which won 2-1 at Giannena Sunday.

Also Sunday, Panathinaikos beat host Xanthi 2-1 and newcomer Platanias won 2-0 at Aris.
