Edgar Davids to manage English club Barnet

LONDON (AP) Former Netherlands midfielder Edgar Davids has been hired by English fourth-tier struggler Barnet as a manager, with plans for another comeback as a player.

The League Two's last-place club says the 39-year-old Davids will form an "equal partnership" with head coach Mark Robson.

Davids said on Barnet's website: "I am very excited about the challenge ahead."

Davids appeared 74 times for the Netherlands in a career that also took him to AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Tottenham.

After briefly coming out of retirement in 2010, Davids made seven appearances for Crystal Palace.

And he's keen to play again within two weeks.

Robson says Davids' "experience as a player throughout his illustrious career will be a massive benefit to all our players."
