NEW YORK (AP) Toronto FC has acquired the rights to American defender Gale Agbossoumonde in a weighted lottery.

The 21-year-old central defender, who was born in Togo, went to Europe two years ago but struggle to find playing time with Braga, Estoril, Djurgardens and Eintracht Frankfurt's second team.

He spent last season with the Carolina RailHawks of the North American Soccer League.
