Hornaday wins second straight trucks race Starting Grid | Results | RecapBy JOHN MARSHALL AP Sports Writer
LAS VEGAS (AP) Pole sitter Ron Hornaday Jr. waded through a crash-filled Trucks Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday for his second straight victory and 51st overall. High speeds on the 1.5-mile oval and warm temperatures led to 10 cautions in the 146-lap race, including an early four-car wreck that brought out the red flag. Hornaday steered clear of the wreckage, backing up his win at Kentucky two weeks ago to match Kyle Busch (Nationwide) for second-most victories in a single NASCAR series with 51. Richard Petty holds the all-time mark with 200 Sprint Cup wins. Hornaday, a four-time series champion, climbed back in the points race after leaders Austin Dillon and James Buescher were involved in early crashes. Updated October 15, 2011 |
