Elche earns promotion in Spain

MADRID (AP) Elche will play in Spain's first division next season after securing promotion on Saturday.

Elche is guaranteed of a top-two finish in the second division - and automatic promotion - after Alcorcon was held to a 1-1 draw at Barcelona B on Saturday.

The last time Elche played in the top flight was 1989.
