Sparks hire new team president

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Los Angeles Sparks have named former television executive Vincent Malcolm as team president and given general manager Penny Toler the title of executive vice president of the WNBA team.

Malcolm was previously managing director of The Malcolm Group, a media and marketing consultant. He also worked in executive roles at Los Angeles television stations KTLA and KCAL, along with radio stations in Los Angeles and New York.

Toler was previously named vice president in 2009 and has been GM since 1999. In her new role, she will continue to oversee basketball operations, in addition to the communications, community relations and marketing departments while working closely with Malcolm.
