A wonderfully gifted attacking midfielder, Andres Iniesta's close ball control, movement, all-round passing game and deceptive pace have seen him become one of the most highly-rated footballers on the planet – even described as the world's best by England's Wayne Rooney. A graduate of the famous La Masia academy at Barcelona, Iniesta has made over 200 appearances for the club despite only turning 26 in May 2010. Along with compatriot Xavi, he dictates the play in behind the front three, although can also play in one of the more attacking roles if needed. Previously underrated by many in the game, Iniesta finally received the plaudits he deserved in the 2008/2009 season, excelling in Barcelona's all-conquering season - including scoring the decisive injury-time goal against Chelsea to reach the Champions League final. Competition for places limited Iniesta's role for his country early in his career, but he was a key part of the side that won Euro 2008 and it would be a major surprise if he wasn't a central figure in the Spain midfield this summer.
