Bio

A strong forward with a competitive edge, Fabiano might be Brazil's best pure center forward and is capable of scoring with both feet and his head. He's also hit the back of the net on a regular basis for the national team, including a hat trick in a 6-2 win over Portugal on Nov. 19, 2008. Fabiano led Brazil with nine goals in 11 games during World Cup qualifying, netting a brace in a 3-1 victory at Argentina on Sept. 5. His scoring prowess was on display in South Africa last summer, as he led Brazil to the FIFA Confederations Cup title by leading the tournament with five goals. He scored twice in two games, including a 3-2 win over the United States in the final. Fabiano's production could be key to Brazil winning a sixth World Cup title in South Africa, and he's entering the tournament hot. He scored 21 goals in 34 games in all competitions for Sevilla of Spain's La Liga this season, helping it win the Copa del Rey. His five seasons with Sevilla have been outstanding, scoring 94 goals in 190 games. Fabiano's scoring rate is unquestioned, but his aerial ability, willingness to work off the ball and selfless play may make him Brazil's most important player. He's an ideal forward for a Brazil team noted for flair and individual skill.
