BioA strong front man and good finisher, Robert Vittek may not be a household name but he is still a very important player for Slovakia. Vittek began his career with hometown club Slovan Bratislava back in 1999 after he advanced from the clubs academy. The young striker quickly made his mark with the first team scoring plenty of goals along the way. It was clear that Vittek was playing at a standard that was too easy for him and a move was in order if his career was to progress. Therefore, after scoring nearly 50 league goals in just over 100 appearances, Vittek joined German side FC Nuremburg. Vittek's career with the German club did not get off to a great start and the Slovakian could not find the goal scoring form that he showed with his previous club. After finishing with five goals in the 2004/2005, he continued to frustrate in the first half of the 2005/2006 season, not finding a goal in the first 17 matches. Then without warning, he scored an incredible 16 goals in 16 games to help lift the club away from relegation. This exceptional form did not go unnoticed and many clubs became interested in the forward. It was French side Lille who got him though in summer 2008, joining them 5.5m euros. He has once again struggled for form and as a result was loaned to Turkish side MKE Ankaragucu in February 2010. He made his debut in 2001 and has been integral ever since, racking up more 63 caps for Slovakia. Player Stats
