Bio

Experienced centre-half Mario Eggimann has flirted with selection for the national side for many years, but as of yet only has a handful of caps to his name.The 29-year-old moved from FC Aarau to German side Karlsruher. Captain of the team for a number of seasons, he joined Hannover in 2008, and has been a reliable squad player for the Bundesliga outfit. Unlikely to be a starting member of the Switzerland side, Eggimann is nevertheless a decent defender to have in the squad, while his versatility and experience of top European football make him an able deputy should one of the front-line defenders need replacing.
