BioJosephs is the likely backup to goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune in South Africa, provided Khune is healthy. Khune was injured when he collided with an opponent in a 2-1 victory over Colombia in a friendly May 27, with Josephs entering as his replacement. He also played in a 5-0 victory over Guatemala on May 31. Considered fairly short by international standards at just over six feet tall, Josephs is a terrific athlete and very comfortable with the ball. He served as the starter during South Africa's poor showing in the 2008 African Nations Cup, as starter Rowen Fernandez was out before being cut from the squad for the 2009 Confederations Cup. Josephs also started in a 3-0 loss to Ghana in a 2006 World Cup qualifier. He has spent his entire career in South Africa and currently plays for the Orlando Pirates. He is considered to be in good form at this time so South Africa should be OK if he is called upon to make his World Cup debut. Player Stats
